Construction can be sustainable....but how... 🌍🏗️ Building a Greener Future: Embracing Sustainability in Construction is so important this year and it’s at the forefront of everyone’s minds… Did you know that the construction industry is responsible for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions? 😱 It’s time to change that narrative! As we continue to develop our landscapes, we have a unique opportunity to prioritise sustainability, carbon footprint and create buildings that not only meet our bespoke needs but also protect our planet. 🌱✨ Here are a few ways we at Axford & Heaton contribute to a greener construction future: 1️⃣ Use Sustainable Materials: Although we do not take the short cuts when creating bespoke luxury designs we do opt for recycled, reclaimed, or rapidly renewable resources to reduce waste and lower our carbon footprint. 2️⃣ Wildflowers - with every project and development we do, we introduce wildflowers and collaborate with local authorities to integrate meadows into our global movement. 3️⃣ Waste Reduction: Implement effective waste management strategies on-site to minimise construction debris and promote recycling. Like we said we are doing our part as an architecture and international development company. Let’s spark a conversation! What sustainable practices have you seen in construction or development? Share your thoughts and ideas in the comments below! Together, we can build a more sustainable future even in the property game! 🌿🏘️ #Cornwallproperty #cornwallconstruction #cornwallbuildings #bespokeprojectssw #swproperty #swbuildings #SustainableConstruction #EcoFriendly #GreenBuilding #ConsciousDevelopment #devonandcornwall #madeincornwall #nature1 #buildingheritage

As we strive to be in tune with SDG goals in developing our environment through construction we invariably tilt to building sustainable structures. Building a sustainable project will amount in one point of construction cycle using an ecofriendly material and methods. The following, are 4 popular ecofriendly construction methods : 1. Modular Construction 2. Bamboo construction 3. Earthship construction 4. Strawbale construction Remember, sustainability is an ongoing process which needs to be updated on the structure even while being inhabited to reduce the carbon print of such building. The Property Council New Zealand Excellence in Sustainability Award recognises a team/individual who has championed sustainability initiatives, creating positive change with the industry. For this, we're proud to nominate our Metlifecare Somervale Project Team. This impressive 5,833sqm, three-storey building project has provided some key learnings and sustainability measures, including: • Fibre-reinforced concrete, reducing over 55t of steel whilst maintaining thermal bridging. • A Mass Timber superstructure, lowering embodied carbon and increasing carbon storage. • Diversion of over 80% of construction waste from landfill. • A smart façade design leveraging natural light and solar pathways. • Use of environmentally certified materials like roofing and low VOC paint and flooring. This team have gone to lengths to share their learnings and train industry partners. They've also achieved some remarkable milestones - including a 7-Homestar built rating. Embracing sustainability in construction isn't just a choice; it's a commitment to our planet's well-being! Today, as we forge the buildings of tomorrow, we have the opportunity to make choices that not only meet our immediate needs but also nurture the environment for generations to come. One such choice lies in the materials we use. Timber, the timeless champion of eco-conscious construction, offers a multitude of benefits. Not only is it renewable, biodegradable, and energy-efficient, but it also serves as a carbon sink, absorbing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. By opting for responsibly sourced timber, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also support sustainable forestry practices, preserving vital ecosystems. Timber frame buildings stand as shining examples of sustainable construction practices. These structures, with their sturdy frames crafted from timber, offer exceptional durability and longevity, often outlasting conventional buildings. Beyond their environmental advantages, timber frame buildings boast excellent thermal performance, providing superior insulation and energy efficiency. Additionally, their flexibility in design allows for versatile architectural expressions, fostering creativity while minimizing material waste. Let's build a brighter, greener future – one sustainable choice at a time. Together, we can construct a world where harmony between humanity and nature flourishes, ensuring prosperity for all. 💚 info@newtinyhouse.com www.newtinyhouse.com #SustainableConstruction #Timber #TimberFrame #GreenBuilding #BuildResponsibly #TimberFraming #House #EnergyEfficiency #EnergyEfficientBuilding #HealthyHomes #HealthyEnvironment
