NONPROFIT FUNDRAISING TEACHABLE MOMENT - Years ago the boys had a group of friends who wanted to learn how to play basketball. So we started a clinic for those kids to teach the basics. A few years later, we all went in our own directions to play on different travel teams. However, a few times a year, this group of kids get together on the SAME team (Surge Elite) to play in a few tournaments. That says something to me. The fact that these kids will stop what they are doing with THEIR teams, so they can come back together and play on the same team again . . . . is something special. It tells me that it's not about basketball. It's not about wins or losses. It's about relationships and friendships. They don't NEED to be part of Surge Elite, they WANT to be part of it. If you base your interactions with your donors on the "wins/losses" of their gifts, then you are being nothing but transactional. What are you doing to build a TRUE relationship? Have you ever asked how you could be a help to THEM? Would you interact with that person whether they donated money or not? Do your donors feel like part of your team? When was the last time you looked at your own donation page? And on your phone?? In just the past week, I've seen one nonprofit whose DONATE button on the menu lead to a dead link, and another nonprofit theater company whose subscription link takes you to the 2019-20 season (on the phone menu only – website version works). Joining the "Tag You're It" campaign is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Step 1: Donate! If you've already been tagged, scan the QR code on your sign or visit bakeryouthclub.com/tag. If you haven't been tagged you can donate $100 or more to get a "No Tag Backs" sign for your yard AND a "Tag You're It" sign so you can tag someone else. Step 2: Receive a "No Tag Backs" Sign. Once you've donated, one of our BYC team members will come out and replace the "Tag You're It" sign with a "No Tag Backs" sign so everyone knows you've helped out BYC and can't be tagged again! Step 3: Tag someone else!
