Today is Give to the Max Day in MN and if you plan to donate, I'd encourage you to consider Breakthrough Twin Cities. I have been a Board Member since 2021 and currently Chair the Governance Committee.... and continue to be impressed by their mission and outcomes. If you aren't in a place to donate but would like to get involved, let me know too. The students are incredible, they have impressive (and challenging) backgrounds and even more ambitious aspirations. I'd be happy to connect you with one-time or ongoing ways to serve. What is Breakthrough? It's an organization committed to guiding students in 6th through 12th grade towards college readiness, but also preparing future educators in hopes that more kids can have teachers who have similar backgrounds and experiences to them. A few stats to back it up: 🔥 During 2023 - 2024, we created a community where 560 students felt supported, seen, and valued. We are now making an even bigger impact serving 657 students- 17% growth! 🔥 100% of the Class of 2024 students who applied were accepted to college. 🔥 The average annual scholarship awarded to a 2024 BTC graduate was $44,818. 🔥 70% of the 2024 Teaching Fellow cohort identified as people of color, providing role models that students truly see themselves in– sometimes for the very first time in a classroom. 🔥 98% of those Teaching Fellows report growth as a teacher. This past summer, over one-third of the Teaching Fellow cohort were returners, which is the highest it has ever been. Thanks for considering and let me know if you ever want to join me to learn more. We are always interested in volunteers and potential Board Members.
IT'S GIVE TO THE MAX DAY! Because of your generosity, we have raised $9,109 so far! 🎉 We are SO close to reaching our goal of $10,000! Each time you donate to Breakthrough, a person is celebrating on the other side of the screen! There's still time to share or support us! 💙 Thank you so much!! ➡️ Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gMj7DvN8 https://lnkd.in/g4tDX8DG #GiveToTheMax #GTMD24 #BreakthroughTwinCities #EducationMatters #EducationEquity #MinnesotaNonprofit #EducationAccess #CollegePrep #StudentsTeachingStudents #TeacherAppreciation

In recent weeks, I have loved reengaging with friends who are doing impactful work with youth within the education to workforce non-profit space! So many things I could say here…. But today reposting this one. I love what CAPS Network and their affiliates are doing to bring direct impact to youth and transforming the way educators and industry together can embrace learners! Why it matters? Think about this common question we hear asked of high schoolers: “What are you going to do after high school?” Its the wrong question! The real questions could/should be: —Tell me about the careers you have been exposed to so far? —Others your thinking about? —What interests you? Why? —What came easy to you? Why? —What excited you most? Why? —What project was most fun to you? Why? —What do you know you do don’t want to do? What was hard about it? Why is it not for you? I am sure you get the point I am trying to make! Learners not having answers to these questions before going down a particular pathway is problematic—often leading to poor outcomes in the entire ecosystem. The earlier we can empower learners, help them experience options, be self-aware/self-driven the better they can navigate and design the vision for the future they want for themselves! Why not learn and discern before graduation? Check them out!
CAPS Network is expanding its impact—thanks to the generosity of those who believe in the power of profession-based learning. 🌟 Join us this #GivingTuesday to keep the momentum going! 🚀 Donate today: https://loom.ly/zLTcLHQ
