I keep my list of #heroes small, but I do admit I got a charge out of meeting Paul Ai Allen at the KU Innovation Park. He challenges some of my beliefs re: things like laissez faire #tech governance, but his faith in #humanity and belief that #technology still holds great promise for our betterment is inspiring. 🚀 Exciting times ahead in the world of AI and fintech - or not? What do you think? 😬 Artificial Intelligence will revolutionize financial services - no doubt about that! The ethical implications of AI are a hot topic that we all need to engage with. Recently, Lex Fridman’s interview (link in comments) with Sam Altman from OpenAI delved deep into some of these ethical concerns and the societal impact of AI. Interesting to get a bit more understanding of what drives one of the most influential persons in AI 😬 Building on this, Mariana Mazzucato’s (I know, I am such a fan) perspective on technological shifts offers valuable insights into how industries have been transformed. She points out that while technology has driven significant advancements, corporations are increasingly investing less in reskilling and upskilling their workforce. This gap poses a challenge in ensuring that employees can keep pace with rapid technological changes, which is critical for sustainable growth and innovation. On a personal note, I am deeply concerned about the ethical implications of AI. These technologies have the potential to undermine our societal trust, which is especially critical in the Nordic countries where trust is deeply embedded in our social fabric. Ensuring that AI is developed and used responsibly is not just a technical challenge but a moral imperative to preserve the trust and integrity of our societies. I'm thrilled to announce that AI will be front and center at the Nordic Fintech Week 2024 🇩🇰🇸🇪🇳🇴🇮🇸🇫🇮! This year's event will feature in-depth discussions on the ethical considerations of AI in finance, innovations driving the industry, and how we can create a future where technology serves everyone fairly. Join us as we explore: - The transformative power of AI in fintech. - Strategies for implementing ethical AI practices. - Insights from industry leaders and innovators. - The importance of reskilling and upskilling in the face of technological advancements. - Addressing the societal impacts of AI, including trust and misinformation. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dWJP_atz #cphfintech #nfw2024 #fintechmatters Copenhagen Fintech

The 2024 Good #Tech Awards A few tech projects stood out for their clear benefits to #humanity. “Tech companies continued to make breakneck progress in artificial intelligence, with #AI products like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude all getting big updates during the year, and billions being spent on the creation of even more powerful models. (And the researchers behind Google’s AlphaFold, an AI project on proteins that I gave a Good Tech Award three years ago, got a slightly more prestigious award this year — the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.) But AI was not the only thing happening in Silicon Valley…” By Kevin Roose https://lnkd.in/dSaMY-2X #technology #startups #bigtech #artificialintelligence #2024 #regulations #socialmedia #privacy #health #democracy

🌟 Exciting News in the World of Artificial Intelligence! 🌟 As the Director of Innovation, I am thrilled to share with you the latest developments in the AI industry. OpenAI, the creator of the popular ChatGPT chatbot, has been making waves with its groundbreaking advancements. [2] [1] Just recently, they announced the formation of a safety and security committee to address concerns surrounding the use of rapidly developing AI technology. This committee will evaluate OpenAI's processes and safeguards, ensuring the responsible and ethical use of AI. But that's not all! OpenAI has also started training the next generation AI model, which will replace the current GPT-4. [3] This new flagship model aims to create a general artificial intelligence (AGI), pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve. The potential for innovation and progress in this field is truly remarkable. In the midst of these exciting developments, there is a growing conversation about the need for AI regulation. As Washington mulls over new AI rules, startup leaders are eager to have a seat at the table. Garry Tan, the firebrand CEO of Y Combinator, is one of the prominent figures advocating for the inclusion of startup voices in shaping AI regulations. The startup economy plays a crucial role in driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. It is essential that their perspectives and insights are taken into account when formulating AI policies. By including startup leaders in the decision-making process, we can ensure that regulations are not only effective but also foster a thriving and competitive AI ecosystem. I invite you to join the conversation and share your thoughts on the role of startups in AI regulation. How do you think their inclusion can benefit the industry as a whole? Let's work together to shape the future of AI in a way that is responsible, ethical, and inclusive. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation #Startup #Regulation #Ethics #FutureOfWork References: [1] OpenAI Forms Safety Council, Trains Next-Gen AI Model Amid Controversies: https://lnkd.in/e2y5xpgi [2] OpenAI forms safety and security committee as concerns mount about AI: https://lnkd.in/dt5-DmPi [3] OpenAI has started training the next GPT and intends to create a general artificial intelligence (AGI): https://lnkd.in/dwdPMRww

The AI revolution is here, but at what cost? As technology advances at breakneck speed, we're faced with a pivotal question: can altruism and profit coexist in the world of artificial intelligence? OpenAI's journey from noble mission to Silicon Valley darling reveals a stark reality about the future of AI development. → Idealism meets capitalism → Ethics vs. investor expectations → The human cost of rapid AI advancement This shift isn't just about one company—it's a microcosm of the broader challenges facing the tech industry. How do we balance innovation with responsibility? Can we trust AI companies to prioritise humanity's best interests over financial gains? As we stand on the precipice of a new technological era, these questions demand our attention and action. The choices we make today will shape the AI-driven world of tomorrow. One of the best things about the AI revolution is that everyone benefits from the competition between the likes of Microsoft, Google, Meta, Open AI, Anthropic, and others. They're spending billions to develop models that the rest of us can use for relatively low cost to automate tasks that could mean a 5x to 10x return on investment (or even more). We love helping our clients navigate the ever-changing world of AI to identify the right tools for the right use cases. While it's difficult for niche startups to stay solvent these days, those that do often have a differentiated solution that is easy to use, or well-suited to a particular use case, or even just very cool. AI is perhaps the most "democratic" technology we've seen in a while, and there's never been a better time to start experimenting. https://lnkd.in/g9hh3DSi

Superintelligence Computing Systems disrupts the #AI industry with a game changing new AI technology beyond brute force LLMs, at a fraction of the costs of our peers, with high reward at significantly lower risk.
Deep technologies have the power to make the world a better place—no question about it. But if that’s the case, why aren’t more founders dedicating themselves to building startups with this game-changing potential? When Sam Altman joined us at ITW 2024, he gave the ultimate answer: because it’s a high-reward bet that comes with high risks and significant costs. Take OpenAI and its most famous product, ChatGPT. AI has been in the spotlight for over a year now, consistently reshaping how we work and offering new ways to deliver both existing and novel services. But Sam Altman’s journey with OpenAI started in 2015—almost nine years ago—and demanded an extraordinary level of professional and personal commitment. Deep Tech has the potential to transform the way we see and experience the world in ways we can’t fully imagine yet. But founding startups in this field requires an effort from both founders and investors that goes beyond the usual fast-success mindset. It demands a mix of commitment, patience, and a certain faith in a process that is often long and winding. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day, so it only makes sense that a future shaped by Deep Tech might take more than a few quarters to come to life, and that's perfectly fine.
