The ethical implications of AI are a hot topic that we all need to engage with. Recently, Lex Fridman’s interview (link in comments) with Sam Altman from OpenAI delved deep into some of these ethical concerns and the societal impact of AI. Interesting to get a bit more understanding of what drives one of the most influential persons in AI 😬 Building on this, Mariana Mazzucato’s (I know, I am such a fan) perspective on technological shifts offers valuable insights into how industries have been transformed. She points out that while technology has driven significant advancements, corporations are increasingly investing less in reskilling and upskilling their workforce. This gap poses a challenge in ensuring that employees can keep pace with rapid technological changes, which is critical for sustainable growth and innovation. One of the best things about the AI revolution is that everyone benefits from the competition between the likes of Microsoft, Google, Meta, Open AI, Anthropic, and others. They're spending billions to develop models that the rest of us can use for relatively low cost to automate tasks that could mean a 5x to 10x return on investment (or even more). We love helping our clients navigate the ever-changing world of AI to identify the right tools for the right use cases. While it's difficult for niche startups to stay solvent these days, those that do often have a differentiated solution that is easy to use, or well-suited to a particular use case, or even just very cool.
