Vulnerability reflection: In diving into the expansive world of AI ethics governance, I’ve hit a realization – my grasp on the immense cultural wisdom of Asia, especially South Asia, China, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines (and more!) is, frankly, not where I want it to be. It’s a humbling admission, but honesty is the first step towards growth. I’m at a point where I understand the existential criticality of these perspectives in shaping a more inclusive and ethically sound future for AI, yet I’m also aware that my knowledge barely scratches the surface. This is where I need your help. I’m reaching out to invite collaboration, insight, and guidance from those of you who are willing to share your expertise and experiences. It’s a sincere call for a collective deep dive into the ethics, philosophies, and governance models that these regions offer. My goal isn’t just to broaden my own understanding but to foster a community of learning that benefits from embracing a wider array of cultural insights. Let’s learn from each other, grow together, and ensure the future of AI is as diverse and inclusive as the world it serves. Please share any and all breadcrumbs and rabbit holes to dive down into, as well as any dialogic we could hold here asynchronously online or schedule to meet live. Thank you. 🕊️ #AIEthics #CulturalWisdom #LearningTogether #AsianStudies #LifelongLearner

🤖 Trustworthy AI should stand as a cornerstone in shaping the future of research and innovation in Europe. However, translating these principles into actionable steps remains a challenge. 🤝 At Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) and Kempelen Institute of Intelligent Technologies, we're united by a shared vision where trustworthy AI isn't just a buzzword, it's a commitment we're dedicated to realizing. Our ethics teams are working to bridge this gap, whether it's through crafting DFKI's ethical principles and redlines, establishing a robust ethics plan at KInIT, or actively engaging in expert working groups focused on trustworthy AI 👨💻 We believe this is the right path towards translating ethical principles into tangible benefits for society. ➡ Find out more about our KInIT: https://lnkd.in/dBD2wTSG ➡ Learn more about DFKI: https://lnkd.in/dV9pfPFb

#Africa #Ethics #AI There is undoubtedly a need for ethical and effective AI regulation in Africa. This should be developed from an African perspective. This calls for the development of strategies and a context-specific regulatory and legal foundation. African policymakers should ensure a multi-stakeholder and collaborative approach to designing AI governance solutions to ensure ethical AI, respect for human rights, transparency and inclusivity. This becomes even more significant given the potential risks to AI during election season on the continent. Beyond framing local regulatory solutions, African governments should play a greater role in global AI discussions to guard against regulatory blind spots that may emerge from importing purely Western approaches. Perhaps the strongest call is for African leaders to leverage expertise on the continent and promote greater collaboration amongst African policymakers. #AI #Ethics #Africanethics #Africa #AI #Regulations #AIPolicy Let us work together

It's clear we're onto something big. Ngesa Maturu aim in the 11th African Evaluation Association (AfriEA) Conference was simple: learn and explore potential collaborations for our impact management platform. Yet, what we found was far more exciting. From the get-go, Ngesa noticed a buzz. The challenge we tackle - collecting and analyzing qualitative impact data without the hassle - was on everyone's lips. By day two, her insights and energy couldn't be ignored. Invitations flowed in, first to present on stage, then to join a panel discussion. This wasn't just about visibility; it was validation. We validated 2 things 1. Our work addresses a critical, widespread need 2. Ngesa's energy is unstoppable The road ahead is promising, and we're just getting started. #ImpactManagement #AfriEA #Innovation #Collaboration #ChangeMakers
