🐷 Over the past few decades, Europe’s food system has become increasingly dominated by animal factories, confining tens of thousands of animals in crowded, tightly packed industrial facilities. This has led to damaging impacts on animal welfare, the environment, local communities and public health. 👩🌾 Luckily, a movement for better food and farming is growing, demanding local communities and small-scale farmers be given the power and resources to produce and distribute food sustainably. ✊ On this #WorldFoodDay, we are excited to launch a new series of testimonies and portraits from across Europe, spotlighting the courageous efforts of local communities and activists resisting the adverse effects of animal factories and industrial food production. 🌱 These stories showcase the power of collective action in building a future where people, animals, and the environment come first. Our planet is facing an environmental crisis, and the animals we share it with are suffering alongside us. From the rapid destruction of forests to the staggering loss of biodiversity, it’s clear that our current path is unsustainable. Animal agriculture is one of the leading contributors to environmental degradation, driving deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, and water pollution. But there’s hope—by making conscious, compassionate choices, we can help change the future. In the latest episode of the Health Science Podcast, Stuart Evans, founder of the Animal Alliance Project, joins @drfranksabatino to discuss these urgent issues and offer solutions. Stuart shares how his journey from the music industry to animal rights activism was fueled by a deeper understanding of the role animal agriculture plays in climate change and ecological harm. He explores how the ethical choice of veganism not only saves the lives of countless animals but also offers a powerful solution to reduce our environmental impact. The conversation covers everything from the methane emissions of livestock, which are 25 times more harmful than CO2, to the massive water usage involved in animal farming. Stuart also touches on the concept of animal personhood and how recognizing the rights of animals could transform our legal and moral systems. By adopting a plant-based diet, Stuart believes we can make a real difference—for the animals, the environment, and our future. This episode is a must-listen for anyone passionate about environmental justice, animal rights, and the fight against climate change. Today (April 4th) is the first #worldcivetday launched by The Civet Project Foundation (Jes Hooper) to raise awareness of Civets, which belong to one of the most ancient families of Carnivore to walk the Earth, yet we know very little about them. April 4th was chosen as it is the same date that the world's first conservation action plan was signed for the endangered Owston's civet (Chrotogale owstoni). Unfortunately, Civets face many threats including Civet coffee (also known as 'kopi luwak,' 'weasel coffee,' and 'cat-poo-chino'). This coffee has been partially digested by civets and since its rise to fame in popular media in the early 2000's, the international civet coffee market has continued to grow. Its market value is now expected to reach an estimated $10.9billion USD by 2030. In attempts to meet consumer demand, civet coffee is now made through the caging and force-feeding of wild-caught civets across southeast Asia. Caged production has devastating consequences for animal welfare, conservation, and human health. Yet still, civet coffee continues to grow in popularity across the world. A new documentary calls on animal NGOs, and the tourism and coffee industries to join forces to make civet coffee history. Interesting look into the consequences of caged production not just from an ethical standpoint, but also a wildlife conservation and biosecurity one as well.

You may have heard of Civet coffee (also known as 'kopi luwak,' 'weasel coffee,' and 'cat-poo-chino'). This coffee has been partially digested by civets and since its rise to fame in the early 2000's, the international civet coffee market has continued to grow. Its market value is now expected to reach an estimated $10.9billion USD by 2030!!!! If people want to drink poo coffee that's up to them I hear you say. But unsurprisingly it's not that straightforward. In attempts to meet consumer demand, civet coffee is now made through the caging and force-feeding of wild-caught civets across southeast Asia. This exploitative production method has devastating consequences for animal welfare, conservation, and human health. Today is the first #worldcivetday launched by the good people at The Civet Project Foundation and they are also launching a new documentary that calls on animal NGOs, and the tourism and coffee industries to join forces to make civet coffee history. It’s high time to stop ignoring the damage humanity is causing to the planet & start making choices that truly support a sustainable & ethical world. There are viable options for change: embracing veganism to reduce the environmental impact of animal agriculture & advocating for animal rights, both in farming & in the wild, to protect & preserve the planet’s environmental biodiversity. The stakes are too high for complacency. #GoVegan. 💚🌱🐾

Attention everyone! 🚨🌍 . . . This morning, as I sat down with my cup of coffee, I found myself immersed in a newspaper article that struck a chord deep within me. It wasn't just the title, "Saving animals is ethical, it's evocative. And it's smart business," that captured my attention, but the profound message it conveyed about our relationship with the natural world. The article shed light on the pervasive notion of speciesism. It's the belief that only human lives hold value, disregarding the intrinsic worth of all other beings. Our health, wealth, and very existence are intricately linked to the well-being of all creatures on this planet. From the smallest insects to the majestic elephants, each plays a vital role in maintaining the delicate balance of ecosystems. Yet, despite this interconnectedness, human activities continue to threaten the lives of countless animals. We each have a role to play in addressing this global crisis, whether it's through supporting companies that prioritise animal welfare in their CSR initiatives or advocating for policies that protect biodiversity. In addition to these initiatives, educating the young ones about animal welfare and helping them be more empathetic towards different animals is crucial. Instilling compassion and empathy in the next generation will ensure that they grow up to be responsible stewards of our planet. So, what can we do? Let's start by educating ourselves and others about the importance of animal welfare and environmental conservation. Our choices today will shape the future of all life on Earth. Let's make them count. 🌱🌍 #timesevoke #timesofindia #news #newsupdate #trendingnews #nature #savenature #wildlife #animals #trending #india #companies #csr
