Coming soon to High Line Channel—"PROJECT ECOPOLIS!" 🎥 Ezra Wube presents "PROJECT ECOPOLIS" (2024), a compilation of four short films commissioned by the High Line Network, with support from High Line Art. On Monday, November 18, we'll be welcoming Ezra and his collaborators, Tanya Wood, Gloria I Rivera, Karen Farber, Jordan Remington, and Gabriella Malavé will be present for the High Line Channel premiere and an artist talk! For "PROJECT ECOPOLIS," Wube collaborated with four High Line Network partners – the High Line (New York, NY), Englewood Agro-Eco District (Chicago, IL), Buffalo Bayou Partnership (Houston, TX), and Friends of Waterfront Park (Seattle, WA) – to produce a short stop-motion film inspired by their site. The artist visited each organization and led its local community of students, older adults, local artists, and park visitors in workshops to create joyful portraits of each place. The series of films will tour participating Network sites in 2024 and 2025, serving as a traveling exhibition to inspire conversations, forge connections, and celebrate community resilience. The work is the second Joint Art Initiative (JAI) commission, a program that explores how Network members can leverage public art to inspire civic discourse and deepen connections among the communities surrounding Network projects. We hope to see you at the park for this special High Line Channel presentation and for the premiere and artist talk on November 18th! 📺 "Project Ecopolis," November 18, 2024 - January 7, 2025 📍 On the High Line at 14th Street 📆 Premiere and Artist Talk | November 18th at 6:30pm at The Theatre in the Rubin Museum 🎫 https://bit.ly/4hAbHJD

A big shout-out to my network about the impressive work by Andrew Ellis and the Art UK team. As highlighted in their impact report: "Our aim is to ensure that cultural capital is not the preserve of the privileged few." Their work and vision have been a crucial inspiration for our product. We also aim to promote cultural learning and meaning-making for those who do not currently have the means or interest, often due to a lack of domestic support and socially constructed narratives. A key prerequisite is the collaborative juxtaposition of institutional and free-choice learning organisations, working together to ensure that cultural education is not merely a grey shadow of what we call cultural institutions. This is particularly challenging in child education, where decomposing iconographic and iconological narratives is a significant challange. However, we believe that novel technologies like GenAI and Deep Learning are leading the way and can create immersive and personalised experiences that resonate with people regardless of their age, and social or economic heritage. #artandculture #arttech #culturetransformation #artificialintelligence #museumeducation #childeducation #openai #DigitalArt #ArtTech #CulturalInnovation #DigitalCulture #ArtificialIntelligenceArt #VirtualRealityArt #CreativeTechnology #DigitalTransformation #TechArt #ModernArt #CulturalHeritage #DigitalCuration #InnovativeArt #ArtisticInnovation #DigitalMediaArt #CultureAndTechnology #newmediaart Richmond, The American International University in London #digitalcreativity #ContemporaryArt #ArtInDigitalAge
All of us at Art UK are massively proud of our latest Impact Report which we have just published: https://lnkd.in/eJ3vQYKv The report includes lots of encouraging data, quotes from users and some of the artworks that joined the platform in 2023. Here are a few highlights from the year: · The platform had 5.3m users, 6.8m sessions and 20.9m page views. We had over 3m users from overseas. · Audience satisfaction levels were strong, and we continued to broaden our audience. · 1.4m people read one of our stories and we now have over 2,000 ‘evergreen’ stories about art on the site. · 3,472 collections shared the platform to show artworks by over 54,000 artists. 78% of collections surveyed said they used Art UK to plan exhibitions. · Our learning resources grew strongly and traffic to them increased 87% y-on-y. 1,000 teachers engaged with our Superpower of Looking programme. · Art UK’s core running costs spread across all collections on the platform work out at just £373 per collection. None of this would have been possible without the amazing colleagues, trustees, advisors and Philanthropy Board members I work with. And of course, all of us are so very grateful to all our wonderful funders and supporters.

Hi ATL Fam, My exhibition Old Suns will open on July 13th at The End Project Space and I hope to see some of your beautiful faces. Here is some more information on the exhibition: Location: The End Project Space 1870 Murphy Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30310-4837, United States Exhibition Dates | July 13 - September 1, 2024 Opening Reception | Saturday, July 13, 2024, 6-8 pm Zoom Artist Talk |Saturday, July 28, 2024, 1 pm EST Join us on July 13, 2024, for the opening reception of Old Suns, an immersive sonic installation by Los Angeles-based artist Iman Person. Delving into Black speculative archives through somatic memory, ethnobotany, and land extraction, Old Suns creates a liminal space that invites audiences to activate both imagined and real ecologies of remembering through ceramic works and sound. About The Exhibition This body of work is centered on a plot of land in St. Ann, Jamaica, bequeathed to my grandmother– a place I have yet to visit, but view as a profound ancestral connection to the island. Within the installation, historical and live weather data from St. Ann—such as humidity, air quality, and temperature–triggers layered audio throughout the gallery. This soundscape includes my poetry, melodic sounds of deep ocean environments, Koromanti dialect, and field recordings from a 2021 trip to Accompong, Jamaica. The sonification of data, distance, and time creates an improvisational and lucid environment, embodying what I describe as "ancestral time." Within this concept, history transcends the linear progression of past, present, and future, allowing for a continuous state of arrival and exploration. Within this framework, diasporic cultures gain knowledge beyond conventional boundaries, fostering new understandings and living archives. These recollections of time guide the journeying body through different time zones, dimensions, and sensory experiences. Dialogue-based practices are becoming a steady part of a transformation involving more community collaboration and influence in the presentation of exhibitions. The premise of dialogical art practices challenges the dominant cultural narrative of neoliberalism and alternatively reveals the voices of those who have been excluded, marginalized, and who are outside of these dominant discourses. Communities need to be invited into art galleries and museums to help articulate their stories and diverse perspectives. The collaborative approach used in exhibitions presents challenges to traditional definitions of curatorial work as well as opportunities to explore process-oriented approaches such as participation, interaction, shared authorship and negotiation. Art galleries and museums need to re-examine their roles within their community, public programming and how they are engaging within their communities. These alternative methods examine ways of seeing and the voices of those communities who have been left outside of institutionally driven narratives in contemporary art galleries and museums. They can present a range of different perspectives and beliefs, in which the past and the present are represented at the same time. Art galleries and museums are sites where dominant discourses can be critiqued by presenting competing voices and exhibiting diverse points of view. The conflicting voices and assimilation of the “words of others,” and the idea of meaning-making found between the speaker’s and the listener’s voices, can situate art galleries and museums as public spaces for dialogue. Dialogue comes out of a mixing of many social voices, ideas and world views. Art galleries and museums have the potential to become public forums for cultural diversity for under-represented voices – sites where dominant discourses can be critiqued by the juxtaposing of competing voices, and where the subordinated narratives that have always been there can be articulated. Dialogical aesthetics can help situate art galleries as public spaces that instigate dialogue. This form of critical creative inquiry offers another way to conceptualize the often complex and interdependent network of artists, images, words and the world, providing links and communication between individual perspectives, community narratives and culture. These practices use a creative process based on the co-curation of dialogue-based art practices that focus on the investigation of diverse forms of artistic engagement exploring collaborative and participatory processes with diverse communities. Dialogue-based art practices use dialogue to engage with communities to give voice to previously unheard histories and perspectives. The artistic process involves artists “make art out of a conversation” by collaborating with specific communities and creating images based on narratives stories.
