10th Triennial of Contemporary Art U3 · Against the Stream of Time, Moderna galerija Ljubljana · Museum of Modern Art, 21 June – 17 November 2024, curator: Tevž Logar, opening: Friday, 21 June at 8 pm 101.72 MB (2024) https://lnkd.in/erKp6tZc is presented through twenty framed dead electronic objects that simulate—pretend to be—art, and the skeleton of a disused robot employed in my previous works. The series as a whole is part of my years-long de-digitalization processes, from the deletion of classical net ⁿᵒⁿ⁻art works in 2011 to the present ~ the only way to liberate ourselves from feudal techno-capitalism is through collective and total de-digitalization. The title of the work indicates the amount of now deleted net ⁿᵒⁿ⁻art works (101.72 MB of files) produced and processed by the exhibited machines and their parts between 1996 and 2007.

What do you think??? Do you feel more connected to art through these exhibitions? Because art used to be--still is, in some circles--a clicky intimidating place, only for the practicioner and the conoisseur. That is slowly changing, or so I hope. I have always tried to break down barriers rather than erect them, while still holding up a standard (to myself, not for measuring or excluding anyone else). Not convinced about slides qualifying as art, though people have been using public sculptures for fun (as a climbing challenge, or for plastering it over with political satire) for centuries. Let me know your opinion in the comment! https://lnkd.in/e_us8DMN

Studies show that the average museum visitor spends apprx. 27 seconds with each artwork. Barely enough time to register the title, let alone appreciate the artist's genius. But what if I told you there's a way to unlock the hidden magic of art? The Slow Art Movement, a rebellion against the tyranny of the museum rush. It's not about forcing yourself into a meditative trance, but about savoring art like a fine wine. Here's why slowing down is the secret art superpower you never knew you had: ▶ Deeper Connections: slowing down allows us to process art on a deeper level, unlocking its ability to move us and spark new ideas. ▶Sensory Symphony: By slowing down, you can truly appreciate the artist's craftsmanship and the way they use these elements to tell a story. ▶Mind-Blowing Insights: Give yourself time to contemplate a piece, you might find yourself surprised by the unexpected thoughts and feelings it evokes. Ready to ditch the museum dash and embrace the Slow Art revolution? Here are some tips: -Choose 2-3 pieces that call to you and focus your attention there. -Notice details like brushstrokes, color choices, and hidden symbols. What story is the artist trying to tell? -Don't be afraid to let the art move you. Does it evoke joy, sadness, or something else entirely? -Talk to your friends or fellow museum-goers about what you see and feel. Sometimes, another perspective can unlock a whole new way of understanding a piece. ️ What piece of art has left you speechless? Intrigued by the idea of Slow Art, but worried you might get bored just standing there? Challenge yourself! Try spending 5 minutes with a single piece and discover three things you completely missed at first glance. https://lnkd.in/ekXtXjRY #SlowArtChallenge #MuseumMystery #ArtfulObservation #MoreThanMeetsTheEye

HBL ART is delighted to present the following artwork from our artist Ayesha Taleyarkhan 'Integration 87' -Archival paper -2020 -30"w x 26"h -€4000 Edition: 2/10 This artwork is available for SALE. Ayesha Taleyarkhan shares her valuable perspective on this artwork: Symmetry and black and white have a special place in my heart…the energy in the composition produced by the symmetry is bound together by the starkness and the tonal values of the black and white. The work speaks to the viewer in no uncertain terms and a connection is made instantly. The technical feel of this piece shadows the creativity involved in the making of Integration 87. The orchestra of symmetries involved here blend harmoniously, weaving their story spontaneously. The abstract aspect of photo artwork is a critical element in the completed work, conveying inclusiveness and ingenuity. Interpretations abound which add value and enhance the artwork. Integration 87 in the setting below brings out the electric quality of this unique piece, integrating with yet standing out in the surrounding shades of black, white and grey. The digital realm is an infinite space, embracing experimentation, inspiration and creativity at unconceivable levels. No boundaries and no blueprints exist. Consciousness dictates how the canvas finally turns out and the nuances will make their statements. Each work has its own beginning and end, telling its unique story along the way. Strangely, Integration 87 did not have a beginning or an ending. It had an alternative journey. Different aspects and elements of this work came together all at once, in perfect harmony…like various instruments in an orchestra all playing together at the same time and making sweet music. The magic is how the synchronicity as well as the spontaneous components embraced and bonded with each other to morph into Integration 87. Now, photo art and digital art have become part of the larger global conversation and are here to stay. Galleries and art fairs display the diversity in art that we see all around us. Very encouraging!

Art is never neutral, and the cultural, social, and other influences on artists from earlier periods in history can chafe with contemporary values. How, then, should art be treated? Lawrence Goldman explores some recent case studies:
