We have successfully demonstrated - through a grant from the BMGF (see Multiway https://lnkd.in/dUgKN_UX ) - that COLPLEX can outperform current limitations of multiplexing lateral flow assay, notably in sensitivity. The COLPLEX technology represents a widely applicable and cost-effective advance in immunoassay technology for new diagnostic applications associated with medical needs requiring high-performance multiplex rapid tests   ➡️A blood based-transcriptomic signature capable of differentiating active tuberculosis patients from healthy and asymptomatic latently infected individuals and allowing to monitor tuberculosis treatment and predict therapy outcome. At MEDICA - Leading International Trade Fair I had a fascinating discussion with Nicolas De Bruyne about one of healthcare's most overlooked challenges: the no-show crisis costing providers $350 billion annually. What struck me most was TurnUp's innovative approach to this problem. Instead of implementing punitive measures, they've developed an AI-powered system that predicts which patients might miss appointments by analyzing multiple factors - from demographics and travel distance to weather conditions and even local events. The results speak for themselves - an 85% success rate in managing no-shows and recovering an average of €20,000 per doctor annually. Nicolas shared an interesting insight: traditional scheduling systems focus on filling slots, but nobody's really tackling the no-show problem itself. TurnUp works invisibly in the background of existing systems, turning potential no-shows into opportunities for patients who need urgent care. Starting with dental practices in Belgium, where waiting times can extend up to a year, they're now expanding to hospitals across Europe. What began as a solution for one specialty is becoming a comprehensive answer to a system-wide challenge. It's refreshing to see healthcare innovation that focuses on both efficiency and human experience - helping providers maintain their revenue while making care more accessible for patients. 🇵🇹This is Fábio Piedade Carvalho. He is our Account Manager for the north of Portugal. I am working remotely from Portugal this summer, and asked him if I could tag along for some customer visits. He offered to go and see cardio-vascular intervention in Vila Real (my husband native town 😀). 🏥The discussion was challenging; the hospital only seemed interested in our product when competitors were unable to supply. They questioned the quality of images, and their protocol seem to differ from other hospitals. Fabio listened and also offered options to the team to benefit from best practices from other hospitals. 💡After the visit, Fábio shared with me his strategy for engaging next, with the users and decision-makers at this hospital. 🩻Being in the field with the Sales team is the best way to understand our customers and the team's reality. Just landed back in Edinburgh after an inspiring few days with lots of other pharmacy groups and innovative suppliers in Spain. Pharmacy First was the main topic of conversation, and how we square the circle of doing more work for not very much extra funding. The phrase "we need to box clever" was used a few times and it is clear that process automation in all its forms is critical if we are to enable our teams to realise the opportunities we have. Most of the groups there are already doing this (a good proportion already using MedPoint for automating collections) and I think a few more now realise that it's not just a gimmick to attract new customers. #247prescriptioncollection is a key piece of the jigsaw of solutions that will enable our teams to up-skill and deliver the higher value services, both NHS and private, that are now available to us. #digitalpharmacy #innovation

It will be exiting to follow the work of Martin Jakobsson and his team at TÜV SÜD, with Their newly established role as the first Danish MDR Notified Body is a significant milestone for Denmark’s life-science ecosystem.. The absence of a notified body in Denmark has been a major roadblock, hindering the flourishing of our dynamic medtech scene and overall value creation. Start-ups and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) have felt the impact. Historically, this situation has made Denmark and the EU a less attractive market for life science, prompting companies to explore other countries and geographies. At Contura International A/S , we’ve witnessed this firsthand. Life science contributes to over 20% of Danish exports, but the rigide 2017 MDR (Medical Device Regulation) and IVDR (In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation) regulations in the EU have adversely affected growth rates and the number of patents filed according to Medicoindustrien. Calling for a more flexible and pragmatic approach to fortify our ecosystem With TÜV SÜD’s expertise and commitment, we’re optimistic that this new Notified Body will pave the way for innovative medical devices to swiftly enter the European market. 📊 👩💻 🇸🇪 The Medaffcon team in #Sweden was strengthened at the beginning of October when Lisse-Lotte Hermansson started as the Director responsible for Swedish operations. Lisse-Lotte holds a Master of Science in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics and is the first Master of Health Economics from the Karolinska Institutet Institute in Stockholm. Currently, she is working on a doctoral dissertation about the value of data. She has worked with health data for about 20 years. What tasks are on your desk this week? 💊 🇩🇰 🇸🇪 A new drug received marketing authorization on October 1 st , and its reimbursement in the Nordic countries is currently being handled. The first launch country is Denmark, and we are doing preliminary preparations related to reimbursement with the Danish authorities. The drug will, of course, also be introduced in Sweden. Additionally, I participated in a Nordic expert meeting. What brings you the most joy in your work? 📍 I get to interact with smart people, so I am constantly learning something new. What would you like to learn next? 🎩 I would like to develop self-discipline to complete my dissertation, which focuses on the value of data. The topic is closely related to my work. I am really passionate about data utilization. We need good data for all solutions, and you can only get that from the Nordic countries. Truly unique aspects need to be highlighted boldly. You must not overpromise, but you can’t be too modest either. What do you do in your leisure time? 🏌️♂️⛳️🇨🇭 Our youngest plays in Swiss Golf´s international competitions. I feel like I’m on a break when I get to join as a caddie. It challenges me physically, emotionally, and socially.
