IT IS DONE ✅ President Hakainde Hichilema writes…. We were thrilled to officiate the launch of the nationwide high-resolution aerial geophysical survey, which will utilize cutting-edge airborne geophysical technology to reveal hidden geological treasures. This initiative will pave the way for targeted exploration of both mineral and water resources, significantly reducing exploration costs and promoting investment. The project underscores our commitment to unlocking the untapped potential of the country's mineral resources as we work towards achieving our goal of 3 million tonnes of copper production by 2031. This mapping exercise also enhances our ability to realize the true market value of our mineral wealth and positions us to engage in transactions with greater certainty. We urge the people of Zambia to support this initiative, which will ultimately create jobs and drive economic growth. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia. #miningbeyondcopper #100yearsofmining #mining

Mineral Exploration. ------------------ Last week I had a privilege to visit some artisanal miners in Bosaso, Somalia. Also, did some exploration to aid the locals in their process of mining. As it is, many ASM are faced by different challenges ranging from; 1. Political instabilities 2. Harsh working conditions 3. Language barriers 4. Exploitation among others. The challenges are common, and mostly here in Africa. Detailed review, will be shared soon. #artisanalmining #Bosaso #mineralexploration

I am happy sharing my latest illuminem article. Thanks Maria Rugamer. There are far too many tragic accidents in artisanal mining. This year alone, there have been tragedies in Tanzania, Mali, Ethiopia and Venezuela where dozens of miners died. Who knows how many accidents where only a handful died haven’t made the news, as well as what ongoing tallies from mercury poisoning have been. This needs to stop. Formalization changes outcomes on safety while shifting broader dignity and productivity of work for miners. Good practices and simple equipment make a massive difference. This work is commercially realistic, with productivity underpinning value along with massive social impact. The Blended Capital Group and our great partners are committed to reimagining outcomes in #asm. Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) Levin Sources BanQu Inc. Napier Meridian. We know that professionalization is commercially realistic. We know professionalization adds much needed #criticalminerals supply. We know social outcomes are massive - #safety, dignity, #humanrights. We know now is the time. Learn more in the attached article. I hope that you find it interesting as well as informative. #mininginvestment #impactinvestment #miningsafety #sdgs #mining #esg #responsiblemining #sustainablemining https://lnkd.in/eE9RgAkQ

It would be amazing if this data would be made open source and accessible, such has been missing for so long and the benefits would be many. Makes you wonder how we have been coping since the last time such a survey was conducted in the 1970s. There is a real need for the country and government to push for a data first approach even as we conduct business.
AERIAL geological #mapping of Zambia is set to start by June monthend this year, as Government has signed a US$100 million contract with Xcalibur Multi-physics of South Africa to undertake the task that was last done in the 1970s. President Hakainde Hichilema has been emphatic on the need to geologically map the country to know her actual mineral wealth, beyond the traditional mining areas. Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Hapenga Kabeta said in an interview that the aerial survey of the country will last one year six months. Breaking: 💎 #Gold Rush Halt: #Congo's Bold Move to Tame #Mining Mayhem 🛑 Yesterday The governor of South Kivu, a mineral-rich province in eastern Congo, ordered a temporary suspension of all mining activities. This drastic measure aims to restore order and improve the traceability of mineral production in an area plagued by violence from armed groups. Mining companies, businesses, and cooperatives have been given 72 hours to vacate mining sites. The decision's impact and compliance are uncertain, as some mining areas are controlled by armed groups. Many residents depend on mining for their livelihoods, and numerous Chinese companies operate in the region. The security situation has worsened recently, with frequent attacks on mines, including a recent incident that killed six Chinese miners and two Congolese soldiers in neighboring Ituri province. This bold move highlights the ongoing struggle to balance economic interests with security concerns in Congo's volatile eastern regions, where over 120 armed groups compete for resources.
