FuelsEurope’s Post

📣 #FuelsEurope’s Advocacy Strategy Executive Emanuela Sardellitti participated last week in the 11th GBEP Bioenergy Week organised in Rome, Italy by the FAO in collaboration with the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security. This event aimed to enhance learning from positive experiences on sustainable production and use of #bioenergy integrated within agri-food production value chains, to support the design and implementation of bioenergy policies 🍃. During her session on liquid #biofuels, Emanuela stressed that, today, liquid fuels provide energy to almost everything that moves. Most of these fuels are currently conventional, but this must change by gradually replacing fossil feedstocks with sustainable #biomass, waste, recycled CO2 and clean hydrogen. 💧 The transformation of the EU Fuel Manufacturing industry is already taking place, with some conventional refineries already converted to bio-refineries and many ongoing #RenewableFuels projects. She further explained that sustainable, renewable liquid fuels are extremely suitable to decarbonise all transport modes immediately without the need to wait for the renewal of the fleets and the installation of new logistics infrastructures. Over many years, our industry has demonstrated the capacity to adapt to market demands and regulatory changes. And facing this new challenge, it has the professional and the technical skills to contribute to a low-carbon future. She stressed that, to be successful in the transition, the industry needs a long-term horizon driven by a Strategy for the transition of Liquid Fuels and Products as part of the regulatory blueprint of the upcoming EU cycle. #CleanFuelsforAll #GBEPBioenergyWeek2024
