Why is #Inspection and #Maintenance by #HV specialists necessary? This is a Lucy FRMU 11KV oil filled ring main unit which had been 'sat minding its own business' for years. The owner had simply assumed its quiet demeanor meant all was well, sadly sometimes its the quiet ones you have to watch! With no checks for many years this RMU was a ticking time bomb. What could we have done to prevent this? Our Standard Scheduled Maintenance agreement allows for annual checks, which include partial discharge checks and intrusive maintenance every 4 years. Add to this that we check NeDERS to make sure that there are no DINS/SOP's regularly and advise if your equipment is listed with issues this could have been avoided and saved the cost of replacement.
