NO NEED TO ATTEND CLASSES AT IISc BANGALORE?! Getting into IISc, the 1st NIRF-ranking university in India, is a dream for so many of us. The prestige, the opportunities, the freedom—it’s what we all hope for. But what truly sets IISc apart is its trust in its students. All you have to do is sign a register, and the day is yours. When I was in NISER, we had an 80% attendance policy. Missing classes wasn’t really an option. For someone like me, who always had to stick to strict rules, this feels like a whole new world. Complete freedom! You can focus on internships, startups, or personal projects without worrying about attendance. For some, this sounds amazing—complete freedom! For others, it feels risky. Without structure, how do you stay focused? This system trusts students to take charge of their learning. But then, I wonder—does this kind of system work for everyone? IISc students are some of the brightest and most motivated. Would it still work in other colleges? Freedom like this sounds amazing, but it’s also a big responsibility. I think it pushes you to stay disciplined while giving space for creativity. Disclaimer: This post is for informational and discussion purposes only. The "Zero Attendance Rule" is not an officially confirmed policy of IISc Bangalore. Do you think this kind of freedom would work for everyone? #linkedin #innovation #science #research #breakthrough #scienceandtechnology #inspiration #sciastra

A unique approach reshaping Indian education.
Zero Attendance Policy at IISc: A Unique Approach to Learning At IISc, there’s no official “Zero Attendance Policy”, but the reality comes close. Professors don’t compel students to attend classes, and evaluations are based solely on quizzes, assignments, and exams. Yes, there’s an attendance register in each department—sign it, and you’re done for the day. To some, this may seem incredibly liberating. To others, it might appear as a lack of structure. However, this reflects IISc’s ethos of empathy and trust. It empowers students to learn on their terms—choosing their resources, setting their schedules, and prioritizing experiences like internships, startups, or extracurriculars. That said, not everyone uses this independence wisely, sparking an important debate: Should more Indian colleges adopt a similar approach? Or does structured attendance ensure better discipline and outcomes? I’d love to hear your thoughts! How do you think this policy impacts education and personal growth? My remark :- in the post below 👇 " Chess is great but useless as an end . Academia is everything, always was, always will be. Let me add -> Chess industrialisation will create money and employment but long term -> chess is not good for macro economics -> academia or high science , rote or entrepreneurial-> should be the full focus Thats why chess is an easier way to earning a livelihood. Does chess help in academic pursuit ? Nope- chess is great fun ( i am a chess league player)- thats why - it does not test you because it does not bore you enough. Academia - never stops being boring, challenging because you need 5 years to make ond move ! Akhil Tripathi - This discussion , while good philosophy, ultimately, epistemology- -> will show that classes - forces a more direct control and regression will prove - you ensure more people passing with classes- that has to be the aim. Emotional intelligence is not in the brief of curriculum though it is unwritten convention. So? Attendance is good for now. Add - entrepreneurial engineering in one year with no classes -> mtech preferrably. This is better."

What #IISc couldn’t achieve in 2 months, #IITs did in just 2 days for their placements. Over 60% of MTech CSE students in the older IITs were placed in top companies in the first 2 days. But IISc’s placement season started 2 months ago, and many students are still struggling to get offers. This time, NO top companies visited IISc, including: Amazon, Uber, Flipkart, Myntra, Google, Apple, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Goldman Sachs, Walmart, Oracle, AMD, and JP Morgan. Back in 2019, when I was a student, most of these companies participated in IISc placements. Most of these companies visited the IITs over the past 4 days, but not IISc. What could be the reason behind this shift? This feels like a clear failure from the IISc placement cell. If IISc doesn’t take placements seriously, future students might not feel motivated to join. The problem doesn't stop here, people might consider not to opt for GATE too. Please share this post as much as possible to save placements at IISc and #tag IISc Placement Officer. Lets hear it from OCCAP Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

🌟Aspiring for M.Tech at IISc/IITs/Other top colleges? If yes, then this post will be very helpful for you. 🎉Congratulations to all GATE-24 aspirants who conquered this exam!!🎊🎉 In this post, I’ll try to explain some real facts about M.Tech at these top colleges to help you come prepared here. 🎈Many coaching and influencers tell you that just get into IITs/IISc somehow and then its done to have luxurious career. Well it’s not that simple. M.Tech at these institutions demand a lot more effort than just GATE level from you. 🎈You will be taught by top level faculties and hence lot to learn through Assignments and Projects which may feel overwhelming at times but will be fruitful in shaping your career. 🎈If you have copied assignments in your B.Tech, leave that practice there because here you have to do it on your own. Although you may get to copy, it won’t be good for you. 🎈Choose your college wisely. Definitely all top IITs and IISc are good but they all have their specialities in different technical areas. 🎈If you are sure of going for placements after M.Tech and not PhD then choose both stream and college wisely because some streams in same college are great for knowledge but lack in placements. 🎈Talk to some seniors of respective college before making final decision to know about curriculum and placement scenarios to make a better choice. That’s all from my side. Feel free to ask any related questions in comment. Wish you luck for your career!!

#Placements are a BIG DEAL for students, especially in top institutes like #IISc. But this year, things are not looking good. A video by Kishalay shared some stats—only 27 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 74 students in the CSA department have been placed, and it’s already been two months since placements started. In contrast, IITs have started their placement on 1st Dec, Yesterday. And on Day 1 itself, many students from the MTech CS department got offers. This is an old and well-known problem at IISc, either because the placement officers are #inactive or because IISc's academics are not #competitive enough. Which you feel is correct ? Lets hear it from OCCAP Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

"Amity jane se kya hi hoga?" I've heard this line at least a thousand times when I told others that I joined Amity. 🎓 Academically, I was not a great achiever in school—just an average student. The only time I got full marks in something was in a 5th standard math unit test. The only significant achievement from my school days was being selected in the ATL Marathon 2020 and eventually being one of the top 12 winners all over India. 🏆 During that phase, I discovered my interest in innovation and transforming ideas into businesses. This competition led me to an internship with Dell Technologies, which was a big deal for me at the age of 15. It was the first time I showed interest in participating in some state-level competition. Not saying education isn't important, but I just couldn't give my best. I was too lazy to study and took longer to understand things. In 11th grade, I chose non-medical science, and in my 12th board exams, I passed in the first division but with average marks. My interest lay in computer science, but my performance in math, physics, and chemistry was just average. I knew that pursuing a B.Tech degree would be too much for me, and I lacked the courage or interest to take the JEE exam, which most non-medical students attempt. So, I chose BCA, as it didn’t involve physics and chemistry and had only the necessary math. 📚 It's been two years since I joined the BCA program at Amity University, Noida, and I have no regrets. I am learning what I am genuinely interested in, and I am achieving a good CGPA every passing semester. I am exploring my potential and have created numerous projects based on deep learning and neural networks. The 2020 ATL Marathon project that I paused to focus on academics has been resumed, and I am now applying my knowledge to it. 🌟 Everyone knows the reputation of Amity University among other universities, but for me, it has provided numerous opportunities for growth. I got to be a finalist at the Smart India Hackathon, I visited the ISRO Ahmedabad museum, met scientists, and expanded my network. The list goes on. 🚀 I just want to say everyone's path is different. Never compare yourself to others; instead, be inspired by them. #BCA #Tech #Innovation #Hackathon #Atlmarathon #Dell #Amity #Growth #Inspiration 🌱
