Project Full Circle: A Game-Changing Journey Around the World Our expert crew brings decades of experience and between Alan Priddy, Steve Lloyd, Clive Tully and Jan Falkowski they hold 120 world records in maritime navigation, endurance sailing, and advanced boat operations. Now, they're channeling this expertise into a mission that could transform the future of shipping. This isn't just any boat - it's a floating laboratory packed with new technology that will change how ships travel our oceans. It will run on a breakthrough fuel system that mixes seawater with regular diesel fuel. This clever mixture and technology will cut harmful emissions by up to 35% and help engines run better. The best part? Ship owners don't need to change their engines to use it. During #WorldEnvironmentDay, we reflect on how our current way of living, producing, and consuming impacts our future. More than one-fifth of the Earth’s land area is already degraded, which also negatively affects marine and coastal ecosystems through processes like runoff and sedimentation. However, it's not too late to restore our environment. At Maritime Robotics AS, we focus on reducing our footprint by producing in our local Norway facility. Our Otter line of USVs is fully electric, and our vessels help customers reduce their environmental impact by optimizing operations and cutting fuel consumption. We also collaborate with companies to manufacture the hulls of the Maritime Robotics' Mariner USV in climate-neutral materials. There's always so much to learn and improve, which is why the UN Environment Programme has released a practical guide to help everyone get involved in ecosystem restoration. This video is part of The Invading Sea's Climate Tech Minute series on Florida companies developing commercial products that address the causes and consequences of climate change. Jacob Ruytenbeek is founder and CEO of SailPlan, a Fort Lauderdale-based maritime analytics, efficiency and sustainability application. SailPlan is an emissions-monitoring platform for ships, helping them reduce their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. While the shipping industry currently relies on emissions estimates based on fuel consumption, SailPlan’s data is from actual emissions coming out of the fuel stacks. As Ruytenbeek states, decarbonization is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity today. The problem isn’t limited to shipping; Every industry is facing it. SailPlan’s technology offers insights and opportunities to reach global net zero with certainty, according to Ruytenbeek. Why does the future seem to revolve solely around batteries? Are there no alternative devices to power machines in the future? It appears we've reached the consensus that batteries are the most environmentally friendly and sustainable energy source humanity will ever devise on Earth. However, it's crucial to consider the health implications of batteries, including the potential radiation byproducts, which have not been thoroughly evaluated for their long-term effects on humans and other oxygen-dependent life forms. It may take at least four years to understand the full impact. As I consistently emphasize in my cautionary statements, "Whatever we invent, the well-being of humans, animals, plants, and the environment must come first." We must consider the full implications of our inventions; there's no need to rush for mere financial gain. After all, money cannot enjoy clean air or experience illness. #whatstherushhello #thepointofnoreturn #acouplemorebillions #aseriouspricetopay #wewiilbepayingforoxygensoon

We will have the pleasure of speaking during #seatechweek workshop about the critical role of unmaned susbsea system play in reducing carbon emissions during sea operations. Thanks to François Frey from Programme Objectif Océan, navire Esprit de VELOX for inviting us to the workshop "Beyond the Net Zero Research Vessels to emerge, which impact on the embarked research process?" on 16th of October". Here's why AUVs are paving the way for low-carbon maritime operations: 🌏 Zero-emission propulsion: Battery-powered AUVs cut down reliance on fossil fuels. 🌏 Independent deployment: Reducing the need for fuel-hungry support vessels. 🌍 Eco-friendly exploration: Mapping, monitoring, and maintaining our oceans with minimal environmental impact. 🌍 Drastic reduction in the costs of operations at sea 🌍 High data quality without compromise These technologies are transforming how we explore and protect the oceans, all while driving us closer to our decarbonization goals. 🌍💧 Agenda : https://lnkd.in/eE7diVtV #Sustainability #Decarbonization #AUV #Innovation #MarineTechnology #CleanEnergy #OceanConservation #LowCarbonFuture

Miami startup Sea Cheetah is developing hydrogen-powered wing-in-ground effect (WiGE) aircraft aimed at revolutionizing zero-emission coastal transport. These low-flying vessels, which operate just above the water’s surface, could travel much further and faster than electric boats without requiring FAA certification. By partnering with H3 Dynamics, Sea Cheetah plans to create a hydrogen generation and fueling network, enhancing range and quick refueling capabilities. The WiGE technology offers significant efficiency advantages, potentially allowing these aircraft to cover 2.3 times the distance of traditional aircraft on the same energy source. While specific details are still under wraps, the concept involves high-surface-area wings and large pontoons for hydrogen storage, promising a range extension that could make these vessels competitive against traditional air travel. Sea Cheetah's innovative approach could lead to a new era in sustainable transport. #Hydrogen #SeaCheetah #GroundEffect #Aviation #SustainableTransport #ZeroEmissions #Innovation #Aerospace #MarineVessels #WiGE

https://lnkd.in/dAjhGjs8 Marine Sustainability who cares? marine sustainability is a global concern for various reasons, and it should be a concern for us as a society. Marine ecosystems provide crucial services, such as biodiversity, food resources, climate regulation, and even oxygen production. However, human activities have put immense pressure on these ecosystems, leading to issues like overfishing, pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change. These factors threaten the balance and long-term health of marine environments, which in turn affect human well-being. Therefore, it is important for individuals, communities, businesses, and governments to work towards marine sustainability to protect and preserve these valuable resources for current and future generations.
