🌟🌟🌟 Day 15: Reason to fail? 🌟🌟🌟 This exercise is brought to you by Guillaume Faas Christmas is compromised! 🎅🎄 A program handles the whole process of loading gifts into Santa's sleigh. The program identifies what gifts children should receive and loads them into the sleigh. But sometimes, gifts are missing, and nobody knows why... These issues could have catastrophic consequences for Christmas! Santa may be late, children may be disappointed, and Santa may blame the elves for something they didn't do... After a thorough investigation, elves reported a couple of reasons why gifts could be missing: * The child is not on the list of "good" children * Something happened at the factory, and the gift was not manufactured * An elf probably misplaced the gift in the inventory The problem is that the program isn't descriptive enough about why a gift wasn't loaded into the sleigh. If any of the steps fail, the loading process is aborted for the given child, and Santa is not aware of the associated reason... Your role in this process is crucial. ✅🚀 **Challenge: Improve this program to make failures more explicit, using the following matrix...** 🚀✅ | Scenario | Information when loading the sleigh | |------------------------------------------|------------------------------------------------------------------| | Gift loaded in the sleigh | Gift: {name} has been loaded! | | Child not in the list of "good" children | Missing gift: Child wasn't nice this year! | | Gift not manufactured | Missing gift: Gift wasn't manufactured! | | Gift misplaced by the elves | Missing gift: The gift has probably been misplaced by the elves! | ❓ Teo's Question: How could we make failure explicit without using exceptions? Suggest this provides a great opportunity to consider the overall 'context' of the fire, and what mitigations would actually be effective...... This is a ROAD VEHCILE, that someone CHOSE to bring inside their personal living space (note the Christmas Tree, the Dining Table, the Counter / Bar Area). Something you've been driving along roadways, driving through muck, water, dog poo, and whatever else one encounters while putting in significant distances that one has decided a Scooter is required to deal with. ? With this type of mindset, what physical barriers could possibly be effective? ? What type of Risk Education would be effective in the face of such an ingrained desire to keep a piece of machinery close to them INSIDE their living space? Unfortunately, it would seem that such 'Medium Level EV's' are going to change how Professionals go about mitigating the Risk of Fire......... #firesafety #ev #innovation

Have you ever asked your child what the other parent got them for Christmas, only to feel a twinge of irritation or defeat because your gift was simpler? It happens... But here's what you can do: Before gift-giving occasions roll around, have a quick chat with your co-parent. It’s not about competition or outdoing each other; it’s about making those moments special for your child. You could even consider coordinating gifts or setting a 'gift budget' to keep things balanced and joyful. Remember, the value of a gift isn't in its price tag but in the love and thought behind it. So keep those spirits high and make every occasion a win-win for the most important person in the equation—your child.

All It Takes is One. All It Takes is You. Many of the Club members who walk through the doors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region start at a disadvantage, facing challenges that no young person should have to overcome alone. Yet sometimes, it’s just one small thing that can change everything: One caring mentor who’s there through every up and down. One hour of homework helps to keep them on track in school. One nutritious meal to stay full and focused during class. One eye-opening experience that inspires a dream just beyond reach. One safe place. One moment. One child at a time. A year-end gift of $500, $250, $100, $50 or whatever amount you can contribute today can be the one thing that helps a young person in our community access the support they need to thrive. Please help us reach our $20,000 goal by December 31st. Together, with investors like you, we can make sure that every Club member at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region can access the support and opportunities they deserve. Your one gift can open doors to a future they never thought possible. You can be the one that makes a difference. Be the one to make a difference. Visit https://lnkd.in/ewqbEeNx or scan the QR Code.
