Food as medicine is the antidote to sick care we need. It's been a whirlwind over the past several weeks of impactful meetings, meaningful connections, and supporting access to evidenced based nutrition care! Supported the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics advisors at the #AMA RUC and CPT Editorial Meetings. Our work here is critical to supporting inclusion of #RDNs and #MNT through advocating for fair and accurate provider reimbursement. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Malnutrition Summit focusing on the critical issue of malnutrition, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive nutrition care in for individuals with malnutrition, regardless of setting. Presented at the #Montana Academy's Spring Meeting on integrating evidenced based nutrition care into healthcare systems and supporting sustainable payment for #RDN provided services. Participated in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) #LongCOVID Healthcare Leadership meeting where we addressed many of the ongoing challenges faced by individuals with long COVID, to include the recognition of the role #nutrition in chronic conditions. It was heartening to be surrounded by so many our our healthcare partners and peers who want to see better access (read #Payment) to #RDNs and #MNT. Attended the #FAM2024 in Chicago, and engaged in many discussions about the current landscape as it relates to funding and reimbursement for food as medicine initiatives, to include sustainable program /benefit design and integration of #MNT. It was exciting to speak with likeminded partners (#payers and #foodproducers) who value the role of #RDNs and #NDTRs in this space. The conversations centered around the role of nutrition in health and disease prevention, reinforced the importance of integrating food-based interventions into healthcare while also supporting payment. I am incredibly proud to represent the Academy's efforts in these vital areas. The connections made and knowledge shared at these events are invaluable. Together, we are making significant strides towards improving health outcomes.
