During this transition to #2025, remember there are opportunities on the local, state, and federal level to advocate. How can you do this? 1. File a piece of legislation - If you have an idea that you think needs to be addressed, filing legislation is immediate and shows bold action. If you are a non-profit it is a great way to show the hard work you are doing. Even if the bill gets stalled, it is a way for you or your organization to bring awareness to issues. 2. Look for funding opportunities - Line items in state government, federal budgets, federal grants, and even local budgets can be tailored to help your organization or your priorities. Non-profits are masters of making a little bit of funding go a long way. Small funding priorities can create huge dividends. 3. Be a thought leader - if you have no need for legislation or funding having conversations with relevant legislators and executives will keep you in the forefront for future actions. By providing insight to your community or what you see in your work, legislators can craft more tailored policy for your interest.
