Before you take any job or work with any potential colleague, it’s important to consider if you admire the people in the organization.
When I think about the best experiences in my career, they have always been working with people who I thought were better than me.
When I was a soccer player the one thing I always tried to do, especially when I was young, was to play with people who had a lot more experience than I did. It forced me to think faster, to exert maximum effort, and, particularly when I was smaller and slower and younger than them, it forced me to use my mind more effectively and to think clearer about the choices I made.
I am convinced the same thing goes for who you work with, and when I reflect on those past moments of flow and think back to the times when I knew we were absolutely flying, I was surrounded by people I admired for their work ethic, raw talent, lack of ego, and who they were, fundamentally.
I wanted to be more like them, and it encouraged an environment of accountability that forced everyone to up their game. While I know I will always be striving to be better, it was these environments that motivated me to be the best version of myself, to be reliable, and to show up for those around me emotionally, spiritually, and to carry as much workload as I thought I could handle, and then a little bit more.
I can unequivocally say that it was in those environments where we also had the most success.
So, when you’re about to choose who to work with or what to work on, reflect on this. Is this the team to do it? Do you want to be more like them? Would you feel guilty for not showing up completely?
I often think back to the Tim Duncan San Antonio Spurs. Sure, the Spurs aren’t great now, but at one point they showed us what true greatness looks like. A team in perfect harmony.
This is how you win!

"When I sleep, I don't just sleep any ordinary sleep. No, I dream of being a three-time 🌟 Golden Globe-winning actor, Jim Carrey. Because then, I would be enough." - Jim Carrey
I recently rewatched Jim Carrey's 🌟 Golden Globes speech, and it struck me how much wisdom lies beneath his humor. He spoke with a 😄 smile, but his words carried significant depth.
We often think, *"If I just get that 💰 promotion, that 🌟 award, that recognition, then I'll be enough."* However, Jim's candidness reminds us that this pursuit never truly ends. There is always another milestone, another accomplishment that we believe will finally complete us.

Perhaps real strength lies in understanding that we are already enough, regardless of awards or accolades. It is about appreciating the journey—not just the trophies—but the growth, the challenges, and the meaningful moments along the way.
Let us remember that our worth is not defined by our achievements, but by who we are throughout our journey.
Have you ever found yourself caught in that endless 🚶♂️ pursuit? How do you stay present and value who you are at this very moment?

Woke up today and I watched this promotion video from Brooks Running, and it is such an inspirational story from one of my favourite Marvels movie superheroes, Jeremy Renner aka Hawkeye.
Everything he spoke about in his video is something that I can relate with (except the accident). I understand what it is like to have so many mistakes and failures in my life and I understand what it is like to always want to keep getting up, to keep trying, and to keep fighting.
While others saw it as pointless and a waste of time, I saw it differently. I knew that one day things would change and things would be different. So I kept on persevering. I am so glad that I persevered. Because after nearly 20 years of following my passions and now calling, I have finally achieved that very first big step towards my goal.
It may have taken me nearly 20 years to get there, but hey, point is that I got there. And I never stopped chasing after my goals/dream. I didn't give up when others thought that I should.
So yeah, let's keep running!

Are you familiar with the expression "working like a dog"? It's been around for centuries, reflecting the intense dedication and hard work often associated with our loyal four-legged friends.
Over time, though, the phrase has taken on a slightly negative tone, implying working excessively without much reward or recognition. However, in recent years, there's been a positive shift in how we perceive this saying.
Here's a fantastic video that showcases this new perspective on "working like a dog"
How do you attack your Goliaths? What is your well-honed capability?
Had the great opportunity to see this replica in Florence on a recent trip. (didn't have time to stand in line to see the real one) Plus, I've seen the other replica in Vegas. However, the impact is still the same. How did he do that out of stone? So amazing!
We have a lot of modern day Goliaths that we face:
- not knowing where your next job is going to be
- dealing with tough family dynamics
- working through challenging relationships
- having great loss with loved ones
- starting a new business
- and the list goes on...
So, in my reflection of my career and what I've done, I can see my "slings and stones." I know I have provided the value when it was needed at the right time. I have honed my skills, knowledge, and abilities when the situation warranted it.
I still have the confidence and credibility to hit the target. I don't need protection because I know this is my expertise! As they say in Hamilton - "I'm not going to miss my shot!!"
Just can't wait to see where I make it happen the next time. One of my best tools is my network and it showed in the last few weeks in LinkedIn!
So, tell me about your Goliath that you are facing or the skill that you depend on to conquer your challenge.

"No one remembers who took 2nd place." – Enzo Ferrari
Well, Mr. Ferrari, have you met Yusuf Dikec? This suave Turkish shooter waltzed into the Olympics and completely rewrote that quote. With his nonchalant approach and undeniable charisma, Dikec showed us all that sometimes, it's not just about being the best but about winning hearts along the way.
So, what does it take to be remembered, even if you aren't the top dog in your field? How do you snag the popular choice award over the critics' choice?
Let’s look at the secret sauce, shall we?
🥇 Master Your Craft:
Sure, you need discipline, knowledge, and experience to be good at what you do. You can't just show up and expect to wow the crowd without putting in the hours. Dikec didn’t become a sharpshooter overnight.
😎 Charisma is Key:
Ever notice how some people just light up a room? It's not about being perfect; it's about being memorable. Whether it's a cheeky smile or a confident stride, that extra spark makes all the difference.
🎭 Attitude Adjustments:
A winning attitude isn't just about aiming for the gold. It's about enjoying the journey, making connections, and leaving a lasting impression. People remember how you made them feel more than what you did.
👑 Authenticity Over Perfection:
Perfection is overrated. Authenticity is where the magic happens. Dikec's relaxed, genuine demeanour made him stand out. Be yourself, and let your unique qualities shine through.
Next time you think you have to be the best to be remembered, channel your inner Dikec. Show up, do your best, and don’t forget to sprinkle a little charm and authenticity along the way.
The world loves a good story, and sometimes the best stories are told by the ones who didn’t finish first.
P.S. - This post was inspired by a similar post on this quote.
