Ericsson is partnering with operators to create 'global scale' for network APIs. Bridge Alliance is looking for regional scale with its BAEx platform. Is this enough to drive incremental revenue for operators? So far, multi-operator network APIs are mainly offering cheaper, more efficient solutions for existing use cases such as anti-fraud. If operators are to generate substantial incremental revenue from network APIs we will need to see a proliferation of new enterprise use cases, likely vertical-specific and each with limited customer volumes. Global scale in API availability can certainly help with that. However, much of the new revenue will accrue to those delivering end-solutions to enterprises.
