Happy International Youth Day! Here's what the Youth Community Office within Kunsill Nazzjonali taż-Żgħażagħ has in store for the next few months: 1. Inclusivity on all fronts, not just in terms of policy applications to how we as youth can be included but also noting diversity, equity and a sense of belonging in our advocacy and the campaigns we put up - this builds upon what is currently being dealt with in the 10th cycle of the EU Youth Dialogue 2. Inter-organisation collaboration with youth professionals and youth/student organisations in Malta and Gozo, ensuring our advocacy and campaigns is far-reaching rather than divided and diluted 3. Representing our community efforts nationally and internationally, applying global advocacy efforts from fields (e.g. Health) to all directorates so we can learn, but also peer educate fellow organisations and youth at the national, European and international levels #internationalyouthday
🎉 Happy International Youth Day! 🎉 This year, we proudly renew our commitment to empowering and advocating for youths across Malta and Gozo. For over 32 years, the National Youth Council of Malta (KNŻ) has been championing the cause of youth, by youth 🙌 We believe in the power of inclusivity 🤝, civic engagement 🗳️, and environmental awareness 🌍 to build a brighter future. Together, let's continue to lead, inspire, and make a difference, ensuring that our future is shaped by the hands of young people 💪 #InternationalYouthDay #EmpowerYouth #KNŻ

International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) are launching this timely funding and training opportunity for young people in Europe working to address division and hate. As someone who has worked with them in the past, I can thoroughly recommend engaging with this project! See below for more info! In an increasingly divided Europe, hate speech, racism and community divisions are worsening. Amidst this context, the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) is putting its trust in young people to find innovative ways forward by launching a new grants scheme for young people in European cities called Catalysts for Cohesion (C4Ɔ). C4Ɔ will support small-scale, innovative change-making initiatives proposed by teams of young people at a city level in line with the EPDF policy recommendations around building cohesive and inclusive communities where everyone feels belonging. Young people are invited to apply in diverse teams of 2-5 members from the same location. Successful recipients will receive EUR 2,500-5,000 funding (based on the needs of the initiative) and will have access to a capacity-building training and support programme over six months. Through its young grantees, C4Ɔ will build and upskill a network of emerging European leaders supporting them to lead the way on interreligious and intercultural change. The C4Ɔ Grant Scheme is open to enthusiastic young people who have great ideas about how to build social cohesion in their city or locality, but may lack the platforms, resources and dialogue skills to make their ideas a reality. Applications are open to mixed teams of 2-5 young people aged 18-30 from any European country as defined by the 46 Member States of the Council of Europe, with an idea for an initiative at the city or local level that implements any of the policy recommendations emerging from the 5th EPDF. Each team should represent at least two different faith backgrounds; C4Ɔ is also particularly interested in receiving applications from diverse teams representing underserved communities, for example, in terms of gender, race, socioeconomic status and refugee and migrant backgrounds. You could be part of an existing youth organization/movement or it could be the first time you have worked together. Applicants are encouraged to think about building new coalitions before submitting an application. Apply by Monday 17 June 2024, 17:00 (Western European Summer Time): https://lnkd.in/ev87Eyp9 #dialogue #cohesion #training #funding #youngpeople #interfaith

🌍 Today, on International Volunteer Day, we celebrate a quiet force driving resilience and social cohesion: our volunteers. I am excited to finally share the publication of a paper Pietro Gagliardi, Alexandra Robinson and I have been working on, which maps youth volunteering programmes across OECD countries, and discusses ways in which governments can do more to support their valuable and often under-recognised work. In the paper, we discuss the impact that national volunteering programmes can have on: ▶️ Building young people's confidence, skills, and connection to democratic institutions ▶️ Enhancing solidarity, inclusion, and social resilience We also draw insights for countries looking to adopt or improve a national volunteering programme, including in the areas of: ▶️ Establishing clear and adequate legislative frameworks and mandates and ensuring a coordinated approach ▶️ Developing youth-friendly communication and enabling young people to participate in programme design and implementation ▶️ Building quality control, and M&E capacities ▶️Better tracking the spillover social impact of volunteering
🌍 Today is #InternationalVolunteerDay! 🙋♀️🙋 #Youth volunteering and civic service programmes can foster young people’s confidence for further civic engagement, skills development, and association with democratic institutions, while also promoting solidarity, social inclusion, and resilience. The latest OECD - OCDE paper, "Promoting Youth Volunteering and Civic Service Engagement: A Stocktake of National Programmes Across OECD Countries" explores youth #volunteering and civic service programmes across OECD countries and the European Union, offering insights, good practices, and lessons to promote peer-learning and inform countries’ policy options and reform efforts. Today, on International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the essential role that volunteering plays in fostering active citizenship, empowering young people, and strengthening inclusive democracies. WFD in North Macedonia has partnered with the Assembly of North Macedonia to create a new programme for volunteers that offers 20 young people a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience and learn about democracy firsthand at the heart of the democratic processes—the Assembly. Through this 6-month programme, participants will attend an academy, engage in workshops, and work alongside MPs and Assembly staff—an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real impact. #IVD2024 #DemocracyCan #StrengthenDemocracy #NorthMacedonia
