READ HERE: https://lnkd.in/dun_H4Uz
The Future Water Emerging Talent Group’s November 2024 EDI Conference highlighted key actions to improve the water industry’s image, create accessible pathways, retain talent, and foster continuous learning, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion. Proposed initiatives included launching a podcast, identifying best practices for apprenticeships and retention, and organizing a reverse mentoring event to drive progress in EDI efforts.
Thanks for sharing the takeaways Caledonia Bhatia. I was gutted to have missed it! The podcasts interviews sound like a good step and reverse mentoring! Selena Zang has some experience and interest in reverse mentoring if you need some support shout! 💛
It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week and at DNA Awarding we’re proud to be recognised as a Neuroinclusive Awarding Organisation. Ensuring that apprentices not only have access to fair and unbiased End-Point Assessment, but that they are encouraged to shine and achieve their potential.
Did you know that apprentices can apply for reasonable adjustments such as regular breaks or re-worded questions? We can even break down tasks or questions into smaller chunks to make them more manageable. We also ensure that all apprentices meet their Independent End-Point Assessor before their assessment, reducing any anxieties they may have.

At X3na Consults, we believe that talent knows no boundaries. Part of our dedication to building lifelong partnerships is ensuring that apprentices from minority communities feel supported from day one.
Our support systems are tailored to foster inclusivity:
- ✅ Mentorship by diverse leaders: We pair all apprentices with mentors who have navigated similar backgrounds, ensuring guidance that’s relatable and empowering.
- ✅ Inclusive training programs: Our training modules are designed to promote diversity and offer flexibility to accommodate different learning needs.
- ✅ Community building: We host regular networking events to create a sense of belonging and provide a platform for apprentices to share their experiences.
We are proud to see the positive outcomes of these initiatives. According to recent data, apprentices from minority communities at X3na Consults have a 30% higher retention rate compared to industry standards (Source: UK Department for Education).

A huge shoutout to the amazing professionals who visited the University of Greenwich to deliver EDI guest lectures (real-life case briefings) for our undergraduate Business Management and HRM students! 🎉
I’m a firm believer in integrating academic learning with industry engagement, and this series hit the mark perfectly. For their coursework, our students will create an EDI Action Plan for an organisation, sector, or industry of their choice, focusing on any of the 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010. Giving students this level of choice is a secret sauce for #authentic and #inclusive assessments. 😉
Now, back to the EDI Guest Lecture series… what a line-up! Six incredible practitioners from IChemE, Bloomberg, Heathrow Airport, Procur3d, Leonardo Hotels, and Transport for London shared their wisdom, challenges, and experiences as EDI leaders. Their real-life case briefings were the perfect mix of inspiration and guidance, helping students shape their focus for their coursework.
For the first time ever, I’m genuinely excited for marking season! I can’t wait to see the innovative EDI intervention plans our students will develop. And here’s the cherry on top: students with the most outstanding plans will get a chance to visit some of these companies and explore internship opportunities. 🚀
A huge thank you to our guest speakers for making this happen: Esther Olorunsomo, Rachel Bibby, Seema Dixit, Sanchia Alasia Assoc CIPD FCMI FRSA, Sonia Meggie, and @PaulaMusson 🙌
Jessica Swan, thank you so much for all your help with reaching even more professionals than we hoped for!👌
We’re excited to keep the momentum going and create even more opportunities for our students. Watch this space for what’s next! 👀
Raluca Marinciu, it looks like you will be planning a few more field trips with our students! 😀
