"Mathematics is a creative and highly inter-connected discipline developed over centuries, providing the solution to some of history’s most intriguing problems. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology, and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high-quality mathematics education therefore, provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of the beauty and power of mathematics, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject." - The UK National Curriculum

I’m excited to share that I’m starting my PhD in Applied Mathematics at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne! 🎓 I’ll be focusing on stochastic approximation schemes in finance, specifically risk budgeting and other applications—combining my passion for math and finance. Looking forward to the challenges ahead and all the learning that comes with it! #FinancialMathematics #RiskBudgeting

November 11 2024 ***PART 3*** This is a continuation of my previous post here:https://lnkd.in/dTfHAK7t As mentioned in that post, sometimes a math department engages in hypocrisy to protect a SHAMELESS, FRAUDULENT ***THIEF*** that is somehow employed as a math "professor(!)" in the department. This shameless hypocrisy is shamelessly supported by some outside the institution that are part of why some students were treated as badly as they did to begin with. The following is to be made clear in these types of situations. When those students end up leaving the institution due to their refusal to switch fields, some high geniuses will expect the student to change research interests to "protect(!)" the ****THIEF,*** and the geniuses in the department will pretend that the student BEING PURPOSEFULLY PREVENTED FROM WORKING ON WHAT THEY WANT TO WORK ON IS JUSTIFIED BECAUSE IT WAS "ENGINEERING(!)," OR "ECONOMICS(!)". HOWEVER, this will not prevent them letting other Ph.D.s (SOME OF WHOM ARE IN THE *EXACT SAME PH.D. PROGRAM(!!!)*) WORK ON THOSE TOPICS. Both of these situations are, in no uncertain terms, RIDICULOUS. IT SHOULD BE MADE CLEAR THAT A PH.D. STUDENT MISTREATED IN SUCH A WAY AS DESCRIBED ABOVE, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE, FOR ANYONE, FOR ANY REASON, WILL NOT CHANGE FIELDS OR RESEARCH INTERESTS. THOSE THAT WISH TO SUPPORT THE *****THIEF****** *****MUST***** DECIDE HOW THEY WISH TO GO FOR THE ************ INCOMPETENT, FRAUDULENT THIEF*******************.

Today at 1pm: How to Prove 1=0, And Other Maths Illusions Watch live via: https://lnkd.in/ejb92bNr Prof Sarah Hart looks how easy it is to make logical slips that can go unnoticed when we are trying to prove more plausible statements. And the stakes are high: as once you have “proved” one false claim, you can prove absolutely any statement at all. Here’s how student’s have answered the question; 42.5% chose option D (all figures) while only 22.8% correctly identified that just figures (i), (ii), and (iv) truly show one-fourth. This widespread error emerges because many students are applying an oversimplified rule: "if something is divided into 4 parts and 1 part is shaded, it must be 1/4" – without considering whether those parts are equal. This misconception often persists because students memorize the procedure ("divide and count") without grasping the underlying concept of equality in fractions. Addressing this early helps prevent difficulties with more advanced mathematical concepts that build on fraction understanding. #Misconceptions #Math #Fractions #EiASSET Sridhar Rajagopalan, Pranav Kothari, Aarthi Muralidharan, Nishchal Shukla, Varathkanth E, Subhash Bansiwal, SHRM-SCP, Jayanti Dasgupta, Girish Raichandani, Kannan Perumal, Ritesh Agarwal, Gayatri Vaidya, Muntaquim Bagadia, Bindu Pillai, Vikas Narang, Mansi Kasliwal, Prakhar Ghildyal
