Think of the street that you live on. What is the noise level? Is it safe for a 7 year-old to walk or bike on it? During a heat wave, would the available trees be enough to help reduce the temperature? 🤔 Streetmeter, a new tool developed in a Sweden-US collaboration at Future Mobility, answers these and other questions. By analyzing parameters like noise levels, pedestrian safety, and greenery, it supports data-driven decisions for the development of more sustainable and livable streets. We interviewed Alexander Ståhle, who is leading the project with Spacescape, On A Wednesday Afternoon, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and Street Plans. He tells more about the tool, the global shift towards pedestrian-friendly and car-free zones, and collaborating with the US. For the first day of October and #weekwithoutdriving, I want to reflect on our experiment as part of our passion project with Ursula Andreeff, Jacob Juliot, and Miguel Martinez Arellano: Ampersand Urban Design's #parkingday2024. On Park(ing) Day, we asked attendees to speak from the heart and answer one simple question: What brings you in today? From an appreciation for urbanism, to the celebration of a special occasion, their answers all revolved around the joy of coming together in the community. This was made possible by the transformation of space from parking to gathering spot. The success of this one small step serves as a great opportunity to invite you to the next small step (no pun intended!): 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒. Did you know 1/3rd of all people in the United States cannot drive due to a range of barriers and challenges? How would you get to where you're going if you had to leave your car behind this week? #weekwithoutdriving is a campaign to answer just that - raising awareness and motivating a greater consciousness for multimodal transportation options. For your next trip, try leaving your keys on the counter and be sure to document and tag LINK Houston to share your journey!

💡🌳 We've drastically improved or study methods for #PublicLighting projects! 👇 This video is showcasing the projected situation of public lighting for Avenue de la Liberté in #Brussels. Note how we are integrating trees, allowing us to assess not just the impact of lighting on facades but also on our green spaces. This two-way analysis helps us understand how lighting affects both our urban landscape and its natural elements. 🌳🔦 Our current focus is on enhancing our in-house expertise in lighting studies for several reasons, like reduced dependence (far less reliant on external suppliers), optimizing needs, efficient project monitoring, flexibility in choices. ✅ These changes reflect the commitment of team #Maintain to adaptability and striving for excellence in all endeavors. Special shoutout to Yves Delincé and Loïc Delporte for their dedication in this initiative! 🙌 Bruxelles Mobilité - Brussel Mobiliteit Christophe Vanoerbeek, Sarah Vanschoenbeek, Tine Van Woensel

Stby joined a group of professionals on a rooftop terrace in Amsterdam early in the morning for a breakfast network meeting organised by Amsterdam Weerproof (formally known as Rainproof), who are becoming more and more grounded in the organisation of the municipality of Amsterdam, as a part of the #ClimateAdaptationProgram. While discussing heat stress in our country, we were surprised by a rainbow after heavy rain and cold wind. The urgency of the topic was all around us in this way. The location of this meeting was very inspiring. This roof is not just a place for meetings. The initiators (ROEF Amsterdam) created a RooftopPARK. In this way, they want to show people what role roofs can play in greening cities. And above all, this can be done a lot faster. Next to great food and location, there was also food for thought... It is key in transformations to understanding peoples behaviour. It's more than urgency and intention, Reint Jan Renes 🌱 explained. What is the role of Design Research in all of this? We wrote this reflection https://lnkd.in/enz-Mfj7

For design incorporating and explaining critical factors- -a second or two glance at a dynamic ENVI-met model can set us on right targets and paths- together. Keep it coming ENVImet!
Urban parks aren’t just pretty patches of green - they’re the powerhouses of urban sustainability. Acting as our cities' "green lungs," they don’t just make neighborhoods nicer; they actively tackle CO2, balancing levels day and night. ENVI-met simulations show exactly how this works, revealing their hidden potential. In our latest video, we break down how parks improve air quality. From photosynthesis to smart park design, you'll see how the right greenery can lower CO2 levels and create healthier cities. With ENVI-met, it's easy to understand how to make every park work harder for the environment. These insights give you the tools to shape more sustainable and livable spaces for everyone. Green spaces aren’t just a trend - they’re the key to better city living. Watch, share, and join the movement to reimagine how cities grow. The future is green. 🌿 #UrbanSustainability #ThinkGreen #ENVImet #Berlin
