The use of an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) has allowed some surgeries to become fully outpatient, with patients going home same day. This is a significant cost savings to the patient and reduces the anxiety that can surround surgery and a hospital stay. FVO foot & ankle surgeon Dr. Eric Bartel recently performed a total ankle replacement in our ASC - the first in our region. It is an honor to have patients trust us to provide state of the art care! https://lnkd.in/ekAudHFW

In September, ZKR Orthopedics announced the successful performance of its first U.S. patella lift case, initiating its FDA trial. The outpatient surgery was performed by Dr. Dennis Crawford, Professor of Orthopedics at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. The Patella Lift procedure from ZKR Orthopedics offers a less invasive and more cost-effective alternative to current treatments, positioning it as a highly attractive option for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) and payors. By reducing the complexity and expense of treatment, this innovation aims to broaden access and improve care efficiency. ZKR Orthopedics is committed to advancing orthopedic care and improving patient outcomes. The Patella Lift procedure provides a minimally invasive solution to unload the patella, alleviate pain, and restore mobility without the risks often associated with traditional treatments. Patients benefit from immediate range of motion and weight-bearing capabilities, enabling a faster return to daily activities. We’re excited to announce that CEO, Jeff Halbrecht has been selected to present ZKR Orthopedics at LSI USA ‘25 March 17-21, 2025. Join us in Dana Point to meet with Jeff and learn more about ZKR Orthopedics.

I hear orthopedic physicians express their struggle to balance patient care amidst busy schedules. It's disheartening when obese patients return, visit after visit, in the same unhealthy state, and surgery is out of reach. If your practice faces declining patient health and reimbursements, Remote Patient Monitoring can be a solution. New Post: Does aggressive rehab after achilles rupture boost recovery without added risk? - https://lnkd.in/gkgV9MTW clinical trial suggests that patients who undergo aggressive rehabilitation immediately following Achilles tendon repair surgery may experience faster recovery and improved function without a higher risk of complications. In 2016, the study led by Carlos De la Fuente and colleagues, examined the outcomes of 39 patients who had suffered Achilles tendon ruptures and were treated using the Dresden repair technique. The patients were randomly divided into two groups: one received an aggressive rehabilitation program starting the day after surgery, while the other followed a conventional approach, resting for 28 days before beginning rehab. Achilles tendon injuries are common during […]

Value-based care is transforming orthopaedic surgery, prioritising patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness. How can orthopaedic surgeons optimise patient outcomes and control costs while shifting to value-based care? Here's what five leading orthopaedic surgeons envision for this evolving landscape: James Chen, MD (DISC Sports and Spine Center, Newport Beach, CA), highlights technology's role in standardising outcomes, like smart implant total knee technology. Ranjan Gupta, MD (UCI Health, Orange, CA), emphasises tangible improvements in patient outcomes amidst rising costs. David Kalainov, MD (Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago), notes the alignment of value-based care with governmental and private payer sources. Louis Levitt, MD (Centres for Advanced Orthopaedics, Bethesda, MD), acknowledges challenges and opportunities in the shift to value-based care, emphasising evidence-based practices and stakeholder engagement. Philip Louie, MD (Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Tacoma, WA), underscores the complexities of defining meaningful outcomes and accurately calculating costs in value-based care. As orthopaedic surgeons navigate value-based care, integrating technology, data-driven practices, and stakeholder alignment will drive positive change and ensure sustainable healthcare delivery. https://lnkd.in/ggy-9CJf #MedTechNews #MedicalDevices #HealthcareInnovation #MedTechIndustry #HealthTech #HealthcareTechnology #MedDeviceNews #HealthcareNews #MedTechTrends
