🔎 #biocontrol #phagecocktails #Bacteria #phage #agriculture #fieldstrial 🌱 Fields trial of phage cocktails against bacterial spot and speck under real conditions !! 👏🏾 💡 Direct application to tomato plants, as recommended by the supplier, seems to show an improvement in tomato yield and quality compared with antibiotic treatments or copper-based products. (Declarative, quantified results not shown in the press release) "The combination of several phages with unique Mode Of Infection (MOI) minimizes the development of phage-resistant strains." "COMMERCIAL APPLICATION PROGRAM Weekly application between vegetative growth stage to first fruit phase will keep disease pressure low alongside the growing cycle (8-10 total applications) where in a rainy season towards the end of the cycle, additional 2-4 applications will be recommended" To be contiued...
EcoPhage has conducted successful field trials in Mexico 😊 Our GoldenEco has shown superior results in Mexico controlling bacterial diseases in Tomatoes and Peppers comparing to the farmer practice. The superior performance came with higher and better quality of the tomatoes. Bacteriophages can play a significant role to control bacterial diseases in agriculture. #biopesticides #cropprotection #sustainableagriculture https://lnkd.in/d2gEvbEB

New Report: The application of bacteriophages in the African AgriFood sector Bacteriophages (phages) are bacteria-specific viruses that can be used in targeted therapy against pathogens. There is potential to implement phage-based approaches to manage infection or the spread of disease at multiple stages of livestock, crop, and food production. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) could cause 10 million deaths by 2050. Phages could reduce the risk of AMR through improved pathogen control and as a viable alternative to antibiotics. A new report from AgriFood Africa Connect, featuring interviews with African phage experts, explores the untapped potential of phage-based technologies in the AgriFood sector: 🗣 Learn from experts about the innovative opportunities for phage-based technologies in the African AgriFood sector including livestock, aquaculture, crops and food processing. 🔎 Explore case studies that take a closer look at ongoing projects that are applying phage-based technologies in the African AgriFood sector.
