New car prices are dropping—but *not* everywhere. Since the start of the year: • Dodge has led the way with a nearly 13% decline in average transaction price. • Toyota and Subaru have defied gravity—their transaction prices have actually *increased*. • The average transaction price across all brands has declined 5%. More price declines on the horizon? I think so. But the big question is how much and for how long. (Data via CarEdge)

Forgive the self-promotion, but I have to thank David Tracy and The Autopian for publishing my deep dive on the rise, fall, rise, fall, rise, and ultimate collapse of small car sales in America. I really respect their dedication to stories you won't find anywhere else. I was fascinated to learn that small car sales are tied to more than just gas prices. Through research and interviews, it started to become clear just how much inflation and interest rates drive the market. And after several record years for both, consumers and automakers are feeling the pain of having fewer small car options. Are small cars due for another renaissance? https://lnkd.in/epAZvhrC
