A wonderful day at Stansted Airport yesterday acting in my role as nominated person, safety manager CAMO. Aviation is a collection of independent yet interdependent systems and thus beliefs. We were exploring the challenges faced with those interactions and more specifically, the gulf in approaches to human fallbility. How can true learning and sharing between parties exist when defensiveness and power are in play? How can efforts to build trust internally be sustained when the motive of external parties is one of blame and control? How can this issue ever see the light of day if we keep it in the shadows? We were not pouring over risk registers and matrices. It cannot be emphasized enough just how important the training and coordination is between the ground handling support equipment and the aircraft asset. It is imperative that the GSE operator and the load master are in sync with the handoff procedures. This is one of the most critical areas where our team has seen unnecessary damage and abuse to the aircraft door surround and cargo loading systems. #telair #training #aircargo

With more #airlines and #training providers including Boeing CAE FlightSafety International adopting #competencybasedtrainingingandassessment #CBTA, it is unsurprising it is making its way into #businessaviation. Good article by Aviation International News in the wake of accident numbers increasing in the sector. I also think we should be training future #airlinepilots differently. I'm familiar with Skyborne Training Academy and other similar training programs like Republic Airways Leadership In Flight Training Academy (LIFT) that focus specifically on training each pilot to #airline standards. For those aspiring to working in #commercialaviation or #businessaviation, they should be trained from the outset as #professionalpilots and, instead of instructing or building time drilling holes in the sky, given duties to enhance their expertise, professionalism and discipline, safety experts say is so essential to #aviationsafety.
