I asked 10 peers how often they check their bank, credit, and investment accounts. The results shocked me. 1x / month: 2 2x / month: 3 2x / week: 2 1x / day: 2 >1x / day: 1 I decided to go to Google to see if the market research I did was off or if I just needed to send my peers my TEDx talk and force them to watch it (again). Investopedia said, "More than a third of Americans check their bank accounts daily, while nearly 20% check in with their accounts less than once a month." Pretty spot on, but still shocking. And I will still send them my TEDx Talk. I am part of the 1/3 who check their bank accounts daily, in fact, when I'm closing my month-end books, I check multiple times a day. This is important to me for multiple reasons and I encourage those who check less than daily to take this into consideration... - Understand your cash FLOW. Money in, money out. Are you over-spending in certain categories? Is UBER eats popping up multiple times a day or week? Should you stop? - Knowing your balances can help you avoid unnecessary fees. Have you ever paid an overdraft fee? This means when you try to withdraw more than your checking account balance. The bank may float this money for you (if you have overdraft protection), but they may also charge a large fee to spot you. - Being aware of fraudulent activities. One time I swiped my credit card at a gas station, and about 15 minutes later my bank called and asked me if I was making a $125,000 purchase at Holt Renfrew. Good thing the bank caught it, but if the transaction went through, I would have seen it right away. It might not always be large fraudulent activities like this, sometimes small amounts might slip through the cracks. Be vigilant. - Verify your deposits and withdrawals. Banks make mistakes too. Not often, but it could happen. Always double check your transactions to make sure they're accurate. Having an extra 0 might be okay to you, but what about one less 0? I told my friends why checking daily might be good for them. Most agreed and some might take some time to jump on the bandwagon. I'm glad I asked them because it prompted me to share this story and why I check my accounts daily. I hope this helps you too! And if you're part of the 20%, you're not alone. My TEDx talk is already in your inbox. LOL #banking #money #personalfinance #financialliteracy #healthyfinancialhabits

Credit card denial letters are essential because they provide critical insights and protections for consumers. Here’s why they are important: 1. Compliance with Legal Obligations (Adverse Action Notice) Denial letters, often called adverse action notices, are required under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). They ensure that consumers are informed about the reasons for a credit denial, protecting them from discrimination and unfair lending practices. 2. Understanding the Reason for Denial These letters outline specific reasons for the credit denial, such as: Low credit score. High debt-to-income ratio. Delinquent accounts or past bankruptcies. This information allows consumers to understand and address the issues affecting their creditworthiness. 3. Free Access to Credit Reports If the denial is based on information in your credit report, the letter will include details about the credit bureau used (e.g., Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion). It entitles you to a free copy of your credit report, allowing you to verify its accuracy and dispute any errors. 4. Opportunity to Improve Financial Health By understanding the reasons for the denial, consumers can take actionable steps to improve their financial profile, such as: Paying down debt. Correcting errors on credit reports. Building a stronger credit history. 5. Protection Against Fraud If the denial is based on inaccurate or fraudulent information in your credit report, the letter acts as an early warning. This enables you to take steps to secure your identity and correct the misinformation. 6. Establishing a Paper Trail Credit card denial letters create a formal record of a lender's decision, which can be useful if you need to challenge the decision or file a complaint with regulatory agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). 7. Educating Consumers These letters provide transparency and educate consumers about the factors influencing credit decisions, helping them make better financial choices in the future. Denial letters empower consumers to understand their financial standing and take proactive steps to improve their creditworthiness. Ignoring these letters can result in missed opportunities to correct errors or enhance financial health. suscribe to our youtube channel to see the full video.

Why Did My Credit Score Plummet Without Any Changes? Answers: https://lnkd.in/g6k-gk2h #CreditScore #CreditIssues #FinancialAdvice Hey everyone! So, I've got a bit of a frustrating situation that I could really use some help with. Here's the scoop: My husband recently got a credit card, but in a mix-up, it somehow got reported under my credit profile instead of his. We dug into it and found that nothing had my name on it at all; it was just a banking mistake. We spent a lot of time on the phone with both the bank and TransUnion to get it straightened out, and finally, it was removed from my report. But here’s where the real kicker comes in: when it came off, my credit score dropped like a rock! 😡 After a few months of using my credit responsibly and keeping up with payments, I thought I was on the right path. I checked my TransUnion score again today, hoping to see some progress, only to discover that it plummeted by 57 points since last month, and here’s the kicker—I haven’t changed anything in my credit behavior! No missed payments, no new accounts, and I’m only using 12% of my available credit! How is that even possible? 🤯 So, why does this happen? Here are a f...
