Why is Energy Storage so Important for the Energy Transtion? 🔋 🪫🔋🇮🇹 Battery Energy Storage Systems allow consumers to store low-cost solar energy and discharge it when the cost of electricity is expensive. In this way, it allows businesses to reduce operational costs, avoid higher tariff charges and save on their electricity bills. BESS systems will be significantly beneficial for environmental sustainability. In this way according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the energy transition is a gradual and steady shift of global energy use from fossil-based sources to a zero-carbon system by 2050. #energytransition #bess #storagesystems #lithium #lifepo4 #lfp #madeinitaly #batteryenergystoragesystems #europe

🌍 Germany’s Renewable Energy Landscape in 2023: Key Insights 🌍 Germany achieved a significant milestone in 2023, with over 50% of its electricity generated from renewable sources. This growth, particularly in solar and wind, contributed to higher energy self-sufficiency (76%) and a record reduction in CO2 emissions. The rise in energy storage capacity and shifting electricity import/export trends were also notable. However, challenges remain, including the impact of high energy prices on demand and public support for the energy transition. Prescient paper from four key storage developers, focussing on the need for urgent action to reduce costs to the consumer and the availability of solutions now and the readiness of the industry to deploy. It’s very important that old central thinking is not applied to new solutions and techniques, and their deployment.
Due to the UK’s inadequate network capacity, renewable energy is being wasted, adding to energy bills and increasing carbon emissions. In our paper, Using Energy Storage to Tackle Renewable Energy Waste, alongside Eku Energy, Field and Kona Energy UK we propose policy solutions that can cut constraint costs in response to National Grid ESO’s Constraint Collaboration Project. Renewable energy markets are facing increasing scrutiny. From the introduction of new regulations on corporate reporting of energy use to the development and revision of international standards related to energy attribute certificates, and continued high prices for European Guarantees of Origin, how have these trends impacted the function of renewable energy markets and the value they bring? Themed “Valuing Consumer Demand”, this year’s REC Market Meeting will be held from 16 to 17 April in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The event will explore the trends shaping renewable energy markets and their impact on the industry. The event is a gathering of key opinion leaders in renewable energy market offers detailed and high-level information about demand side markets for renewables. Team REDEX will be at the event. Our delegates, Jen Wee KANG, Zhaotan Xiao and Tricia Tan are excited to be joining fellow renewable energy business leaders and professionals in accelerating the global energy transition. If you are also participating in the event, we would be more than happy to connect and exchange insights on decarbonisation and climate change. We look forward to a fruitful event of meeting, collaborating and sharing! #REDEX #renewableenergycertificates #renewableenergy #REC
