Did you know that before I started hosting the Essential Oil Revolution podcast, I was a guest? Serendipity, the conversation after with Samantha leading led to me taking over as the voice and carrying on Samantha's legacy. Here's a short video of me summarizing my podcast interview on The Essential Oils Revolution with Samantha last year. In the interview, I highlight how essential oils can help us to turn down the amygdala (emotional brain) hijack from modern day living and enhance our health. I also discuss clinical applications of #essentialoils and how they can regulate #cortisol. Topics include: 1. How I integrate naturopathic and functional medicine, lifestyle, and essential oils into my practice. 2. How I combine the aromatic properties of essential oils with their physiological, biochemical, and psychological applications in my naturopathic and functional medicine clinical practice. 3. How essential oils can elicit the relaxation response to allow for our innate abilities to heal. 4. A case study: I give an example of incorporating ylang ylang for heart synergy and a Joyful blend for soothing trauma and psychological symptoms. 5. How to balance cortisol patterns with essential oils, specifically for cortisol deregulation and HPA dysfunction. 6. The research on peppermint oil for digestive health. 7. What got me started with essential oils and how that led me to naturopathic medicine school and functional medicine. 8. How essential oils are epigenetic modulators altering cellular patterns and they also influence the microbiome favorably. 9. Closing questions: What I do for self-care and what I said to ditch and what to replace it with. Attention R&D nerds! Supplement junkies, biological sceintist and health supplment research types: We were honored to host our first subject matter expert on the Suppworks podcast. And for the crowd that is specifically mentioned above. This podcast is a must-listen. Now, normally our podcast is supplement marketing, sales and branding focused with some R&D strategy baked in by way of Joey Savage - which is good for some advice and entertainment. but this one in particular is special to me for two reasons - One as a laymen, who genuinely learned something important about the world and how our bodies work. Two, as a sheer flex of masterful storytelling. We explored a doctorate level deep dive in to our guests life pursuit with a in depth look the history, science, research, and supply of Tocotrienol, as well as his prized GeranylGeraniol (say that three times fast) and explained masterfully in depth how it all works. This passion driven story is told coming from a lifetime commitment to research by no other than the foremost expert in the subject, the lovely Dr. Barrie Tan, Ph.D. who not only in my opinion, deserves a Nobel prize for his research, but also is a absolute gem of a human being. I am grateful to be able to say I learned from Dr. Tan Take 3 hours and Give it a listen. https://lnkd.in/g42FtCBu

Why everyone is obsessing over body inflammation? A quick guide to the ultimate trends (randomly chosen by me💅🏼) As a 30-something year old, when I saw this video https://lnkd.in/dTdSm_pK I could’t help but notice that is actually true. Just think about the last time you tried organizing a dinner date: everyone has suddenly become intolerant to gluten, lactose, nickel, you choose.. literally everything has become inflammatory all of the sudden. In a broader sense, inflammation is a defense mechanism to something potentially harmful. Sometimes this process gets out of control, leading to chronic inflammation that damages rather than heals. “Our modern environments have been markedly transformed, from the food we eat to the air we breathe, to how we move and relate to others,” says Dr Shilpa Ravella, assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Medical Centre. “Our immune systems are constantly triggered in this new environment, leading to chronic and often low-level inflammation that is linked to various kinds of disease.” But what does it practically mean? Chronic fatigue, hyper sensible skin, bloating, even anxiety and depression. We feel unbalanced, and brands are noticing it. They are now using “anti-inflammatory” claims to market stuff in various sectors: 🍕Food: you can now get your anti-inflammatory meal plans, cutting out ultra-processed and sugary foods, to improve your gut microbiome. Super anti-inflammatory foods include – according to the Harvard Medical School – olive oil, green leafy vegetables, such as spinach and kale, nuts, fatty fish like salmon and tuna and fruits such as strawberries, blueberries and oranges. Basically a Mediterranean diet, without the Mediterranean wine. 👗Textile: Have you ever heard of smart fabrics? Who knew they could have antibacterial, hypoallergenic and anti-inflammatory proprierties. Breathability, softness and lightness – all certified to provide the best second skin effect. They target not only medically sensitive skin (e.g. eczema, psoriasis), but all skin types. Definitively a new approach to skin inclusivity. 🧖🏻♀️Skincare: Acne, redness, a sense of itching and irritation can be defined as skin inflammation. From super ingredients such as Centella and Green Tea, to cooling and calming claims, skincare brands are even borrowing scary definition as inflammaging (age-related inflammation). You bet they are targeting older women with threatening allegations. 📌My 2 cents: Inflammation is one of the last health fixation, fuelled by modern life. When it comes to claims, watch out: when the inflammatory ingredients outweigh any actual anti-inflammatory components – here you have – inflammation washing (and not easy to spot to be honest, in any sector). Truth is, inflammation is a modern problem that requires ancient solutions: eat well, stress less, sleep more, live an active and meaningful life. Basically, living as our grandparents used to. Easy right?
