📣 Countdown to Change: Join Us in Empowering Rural Children through Literacy and Technology! At WeCare Africa, we are thrilled to launch our official fundraising countdown for The Literacy Competitions! 🎉 What is the Literacy Competitions about? The Literacy Competitions is more than just an educational program; it’s a transformative initiative aimed at empowering a love for reading and learning among children in rural public schools across South East while equipping these children with targeted digital literacy and SDGs interventions through our 5day workshop. PHASE 1 -Month 1: Regional Competitions Volunteer engagement, training, and deployment for Community Awareness Organize literacy competitions in various public schools across the South Eastern region. Conduct preliminary rounds to select the top 10 students from each school. Month 2: Semi-Final Competitions Host regional semi-finals with selected students competing to represent their regions in the final event. In a region where educational resources and motivation are scarce, the impact of such a competition is profound. Research has shown that literacy competitions significantly improve academic performance and instill a lifelong love for learning. Phase 2 Month 3: Final Competition and the 5 day Hands-On Bootcamp Our initiative doesn’t stop at literacy. We’re excited to introduce a 5-day hands-on boot camp designed to expose children to technological advancements and career opportunities in tech. This boot camp will: -Enhance Digital Literacy: Equip students with essential tech skills. -Promote Thought Leadership: Foster critical thinking and innovation. -Advance SDG Awareness: Educate students on the Sustainable Development Goals and their role in achieving them. This intervention is a crucial step towards bridging the gap between rural communities and the digital age, preparing our youth for a future brimming with opportunities. We cannot achieve this goal alone. We are reaching out to organizations, corporations, and individuals who share our vision of empowering the next generation. Your support can make a significant difference: Sponsorships: Fund regional competitions, prizes, and boot camp materials. Partnerships: Collaborate with us to provide mentorship, resources, and expertise. Donations: Contribute to our cause and help us reach more children. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of over 1,000 children across South Eastern Nigeria. Join us in this journey to create brighter futures and foster a culture of learning and innovation. Ready to be part of this change? Please contact us. Let’s make a difference together! #EmpowerReading #WeCareAfrica #LiteracyCompetitions #TechForGood #SDGs #EducationMatters #PartnershipForChange #SupportEducation #DigitalLiteracy

RCT based World of Words (WOW) i.e. www.worldofwords.education is a fundraised, non-profit, social enterprise with a management committee, policies and a constitution. We provide bespoke, reflective based session activities that relate to literacy. Our main aim is to build confidence and self-esteem with young people aged 7 to 11 years (and we have also worked with adults in loneliness and isolation via our adult centred Cultural Chapter side project). WOW has been NACE approved, been involved in many successful Estyn Inspections and has been the beneficiary of a Green Goal Achievement award. Our input builds relationships, and via consultation develops literature or uses materials relating to current situations to support personal, local, national and global changes. WOW: *Writes poems and stories that have an array of behavioural, cultural, ethical, environmental, geographical, historical, moral and social overtones with an aim that folk make the most of their individual and collective consciousness for the good of both their own and others' lives. *Develops literacy through activities and workshops. *Has worked with many people who have additional learning needs and face social barriers. *Enhances basic skills through workshops. *Promotes literacy in an inclusive way. *Highlights real-life situations and the positive and negatives of these occurrences. *Introduces a range of guest speakers and role models to heighten experiences. *Utilises a hands on approach with each person given respect and time to air their views. *Rewards its throng with a selection of free tickets to major events and significant venues. Over 4000 primary school pupils have sampled WOW across a number of years and our adult angle has also welcomed over 100 folk. £500 would accommodate a new laptop to advance our sessions of 13 years and continue our policy of introducing our children to research topics including discovering core elements of nature. Recently, our current laptop sadly ceased. We have taken photographs of berries, shells, leaves, driftwood, rocks, pine cones etc to compliment the real items and find out more about their identity and integers. We also collect photographs of the local landscape where these items and local wildlife are found. We aim to unite and form a bond between technology and the terrain around us. We also have writing projects that stem from technology and the ability to write in a structured format online without the worries of erasers or making mistakes as we attempt to build confidence and esteem through literacy. The children benefit in a cultural, environmental, ethical, geographical, historical, moral, social and technological context. The children take their technological learning out into the community to foster the likes of litter management. Our aims include introducing upgraded technology and any assistance is gratefully appreciated. World of Words hopes that you can help us help others.

𝗔 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲: 𝗡𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 Nakayale Private Academy is more than just a school; it is an incubator of hope in a region where opportunities for education and growth are scarce. The word ‘Nakayale,’ meaning ‘nest,’ encapsulates what this school represents to its learners—a place of safety, nurturing, and support. For the children, Nakayale is not only an educational institution; it is their lifeline and sanctuary in a world that often overlooks their needs and potential. Located in Etunda, in the Omusati Region of Namibia, Nakayale Private Academy for Orphans and Marginalised Children opened its doors in January 2016 with an initial enrollment of 60 learners. The school offers free tuition and boarding on 50 hectares of land donated by the Western Diocese of ELCIN. 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 Nakayale Private Academy not only transforms the lives of its learners but also inspires communities and families through the significant changes observed in the children. The academy is developing a credible, internationally recognised model for educating marginalised children in rural Namibia, demonstrating proven success. This model includes on-the-job training for teachers without formal qualifications, while also assisting them in obtaining formal teaching credentials, thereby challenging perceptions about educational barriers in rural areas. 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 B2Gold Namibia has supported the school, ensuring that the first intake of children graduated from primary school to high school in December 2021. This video specifically highlights B2Gold Namibia’s involvement with Nakayale Private Academy, as they have been an investor since its inception. With continued financial support from B2Gold Namibia, Carmen de Villiers (Director of Nakayale Private Academy) and her team secured places for the first fifteen children at Karstveld Private Academy in Grootfontein. By the end of their ninth year in 2023, all learners maintained an average of 70% to 90%, with the top 9th-grade learner among those from Nakayale Private Academy. Nakayale, with its proven pathway to a sustainable future and a life of excellence, is thriving thanks to the financial and moral support of investors such as B2Gold Namibia, CMB TECH, Westair Aviation, FNB Namibia, and the Rössing Foundation. These children are poised to change the narrative of their origins and the educational landscape in their region. This story of hope needs your support to ensure its continuation for future generations. IDRF recognizes the critical role of technology in modern education and has taken significant strides to ensure that children and youth from underserved communities are not left behind. IDRF has reached over 1500 schools and institutions across 28 states of India, improving digital literacy for thousands of students. This initiative, designed to introduce computer skills, empowers students from marginalized communities with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Students who are exposed to technology early on are better prepared for future job markets, which are increasingly reliant on digital skills. Our programs not only equip students with technical skills but also build their confidence in navigating a digital landscape. The future of thousands of children depends on programs like these, and we can’t do it alone. Your support can help bring digital literacy to even more schools, empowering students with the skills they need to build a brighter tomorrow. Some terrific work in helping innovative non-profits with grants plus training and mentoring, to scale up their projects that assist marginalised young learners to learn and develop skills in a nurturing environment. These are organisations addressing problems like young people not in school, or not staying in school, or not completing school and graduating, or not being able to continue in post school pathways whether it be further training, education or employment. With a focus on student engagement, motivation, empowerment and resilience through use of education technology, virtual learning, localised curriculum, needed skill development, and local community problem solving. At the same time the projects are also helping and empowering teachers in the classroom and parents at home. These and other groups at a local, regional or global level we can all support in our own ways. #educationinnovation

Contemporary education models continue to reflect and perpetuate colonial educational priorities, in the process excluding marginalised groups of people and denying them the opportunity to learn and thrive — but alternatives that move us closer to inclusive education are now emerging. Today on Bliss, Anoushka Gupta discusses discusses ‘Nooks’, alternative community learning spaces that non-profit organisation Project DEFY has introduced in Bangladesh, India, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe, and shows how they are transforming the way in which people approach learning. Every successful career is built on a foundation of education and opportunity. The incredible children I have had the opportunity to work with over the last one year have opened my eyes to their dreams and passions. Pragdeesh loves photography, Divya is eager to master English, Manimegalai is all about puzzles, Lingeshwaran is fascinated by electronics, and Sathyan shines on stage—all brimming with potential yet facing an educational landscape that lacks personalized, diverse learning opportunities. https://bit.ly/nambikai 🌱 Imagine a world where every child in rural Tamil Nadu can access digital skills and essential learning tools at their fingertips. 🌱 Nambikaiyai Vidhaipom (Let’s Seed Hope) is realising this vision in Dindigul’s underserved communities. Through our innovative Mobile Digital Lab, we’re reaching over 40 community centers and an orphanage with engaging, game-based learning modules that make education accessible and impactful. Here’s what we’ve achieved so far: ✅ Funding Secured: ₹70,000 from SBI Sahyog for laptops and essential equipment 📱 Resource Boost: 25 digital tablets donated to support hands-on learning 📈 Current Impact: Directly benefiting 600–800 students, with ripple effects for over 2,350 indirect beneficiaries. Our goal is to empower up to 17,000 students, and we’re on the verge of a breakthrough. To reach full capacity, we need 3 more laptops (₹31,000 each) or donations of used laptops to expand this mobile lab to more communities. 💡 Join us in closing the digital divide for Tamil Nadu’s youth—your support can spark change! 👉 For more on how you can contribute, please visit our project proposal link. Together, let’s seed hope and build brighter futures. Your engagement can turn dreams into reality! https://bit.ly/nambikai #EducationForAll #DigitalInclusion #EmpowerYouth #SocialImpact #Fundraising #CommunityDevelopment #EdTech #SBIYFI #MakeADifference
