👁️ World Sight Day - October 10, 2024 👁️ Today, we raise awareness about eye health and the patients affected by vision-threatening conditions like #dryAMD and #glaucoma. Globally, over 196 million people are living with dry AMD, and around 80 million people are living with glaucoma, both of which can lead to severe vision loss, if left untreated. At Galimedix, we are dedicated to developing neuroprotective therapies like GAL-101 to target the root causes of these diseases. Our innovative treatments for dry AMD and glaucoma aim to preserve vision and enhance the quality of life for those impacted by these conditions. Join us in supporting research, innovative therapeutics and raising awareness to ensure a brighter future for eye health. 🌍💡 #WorldSightDay #EyeHealth #Innovation

Women have long been underrepresented in clinical heart research — leading to gaps in detecting, treating, and setting standards of care for heart disease. Further, published data shows that women are up to 35% less likely than men to receive either of the available treatment options (TAVR and SAVR) to treat aortic stenosis.¹﹐² Earlier this month, we hosted a powerful roundtable discussion focused on reshaping the future of women’s heart health. We saw clinicians, patient advocates, and policy leaders all come together in one space to work towards the same goal - elevating the future of women’s health. This comes on the heels of #SMARTtrial data showing that Evolut™️ #TAVR delivers superior valve performance in women with a small annulus at 1 year versus SAPIEN™* platform.³ At Medtronic, we will continue helping empower and amplify the voices of women while driving awareness on women’s heart valve disease and #AorticStenosis. "We are confident that expanding access to the EsoGuard test will empower providers with an essential triage for upper endoscopy (EGD) that enables the early detection of BE," wrote Reginald Bell, M.D., FACS, the Chair of the American Foregut Society Board, on behalf the society. "The goal of early BE detection is to facilitate prompt treatment and surveillance, ultimately reducing the risk of cancer progression. By being available as a point-of-care test in primary care offices, EsoGuard directly reduces health disparities in endoscopy access, aligning with the mission of the American Foregut Society. We urge you to consider the immediate coverage of the EsoGuard test." Read more: https://lnkd.in/gnSn2zbi #EarlyDetectionSaveLives #Healthcare

As of October 8th, 2024, people aged 40-49 can now self-refer for publicly funded mammograms through the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP). When you call 1-800-668-9304, someone will ask you for details and then connect you with a local screening office to book your time for your mammogram. Things to remember before you go: 👉🏼 Do not wear deodorant. 👉🏼 Do not wear lotion. If you forget, they will have you wash it off before your imaging. Even if you're not experiencing any concerns, it's crucial to establish a baseline for your health. Have you booked your mammogram yet? Remember, October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth! We can all do our part to spread the word about this important new service. Tag your friends below! For more information visit: https://lnkd.in/gW7MHHTs

On September 29th we celebrated World Heart Day! ❤️ It is now a known fact that Cardiovascular Diseases are the number 1 cause of deaths all over the world. And while prevention is crucial, here at Virtonomy.io, we believe that advancing treatment is equally important. On this #WorldHeartDay, we reaffirm our commitment to shaping a future where heart disease is treated more effectively and life-saving solutions reach patients faster. 🎯 And this is how we tackle this problem: ☑ Providing 3D models of underrepresented patient groups to increase device population coverage. 〰 One of our key missions is to extend our database of digital patient twins with 3D models representing underrepresented groups—including women, geriatric patients, those with rare diseases, and pediatric patients. These groups are often overlooked in traditional medical device testing, which can lead to delays in getting the best solutions to those who need them most. By including a wider range of anatomical models, we're ensuring that cardiovascular devices are better designed, tested, and tailored for every individual—no matter their age, sex, or condition. This means faster innovations, more personalized care, and a step closer to making effective treatments accessible to all. ☑ Enabling faster time-to-market, bringing innovative devices to patients in a shorter time frame. 〰 With our innovative platform, cardiovascular device developers can virtually implant their devices into these diverse digital models, allowing them to validate and optimize designs before entering costly and time-consuming clinical trials. This approach not only ensures that devices are safe and effective for a wide range of patients but also enables faster time-to-market, bringing innovative devices to patients in a shorter time frame. 📢 So this year we would like to take this opportunity to highlight the importance of making healthcare inclusive, efficient, and accessible. With new technologies such as #digitaltwins and #computersimulations, this is easier than ever, and it is our shared responsibility to prove that every heart matters. 💟 #medtech #digitalhealth #clinicaltrials #virtonomy

Evangelical Community Hospital, through Imaging Services, is offering a new screening exam beginning in June for prevention of heart attack and stroke. The Cardiac CT (computed tomography) Calcium Score Screening exam is most helpful for people who don’t have a clear high or clear low risk of heart attack or stroke. The test, which is quick and noninvasive, looks specifically at how much calcified (hard) plaque is in the coronary arteries. A high score of calcium in the heart’s arteries identifies an issue of plaque that can narrow or block artery function and be an indicator of atherosclerosis (coronary artery disease) which can lead to heart attack or stroke. Cardiac CT Calcium Scoring uses detailed images of the heart to calculate a score based on factors such as age, race, and gender.
