𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗸’𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱-𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺𝘀: 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗢𝟮 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 🌍♻️ Sustainability in packaging has never been more crucial, and at Galloplastik, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Our innovative Lessw8 range of films, recently recognized with the 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 award 🏆, is helping companies significantly cut their CO2 emissions—without sacrificing pallet stability. So, how exactly do our films make a difference? It all starts with understanding the environmental cost of traditional pallet wrapping. For every kilogram of film used, around 5.5 kg of CO2 emissions are generated 🌱. In an industry where efficiency and environmental responsibility are constantly at odds, this can have a huge cumulative impact. Our LessW8 films solve this problem by drastically reducing the amount of film needed per pallet 📦. Depending on the load, our films can cut usage by 𝟯𝟬-𝟲𝟱%. This means that for every 100 grams of film we eliminate, we’re reducing 500 grams of CO2 from the total emissions. For example, cutting 200 grams of film removes a full kilogram of CO2 🌿. Over thousands of shipments, the reduction in your carbon footprint is enormous 🌍. What’s more, our Lessw8 films are 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 ♻️, making them not only effective in reducing CO2 but also contributing to a circular economy. However, cutting film usage usually raises concerns about load stability. This is where Lessw8 truly shines ✨. Our films are designed to maintain full pallet security and have been rigorously tested and certified by EUMOS 🔒. Even with reduced material, pallets remain stable and secure throughout transport. At Galloplastik, we believe that sustainability should never come at the cost of performance. Our Lessw8 range proves that you can have both—cutting-edge packaging solutions that reduce environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of load stability 🚚✅. Every step in the direction of sustainability matters here at Vanacomm. At the centre of all we do is our dedication to environmental responsibility. Here's how we're making an impact: ✅ Carbon Offsetting We offset carbon via our paper usage, giving our customers the opportunity to offset their paper contents used on projects through the World Land Trust. You not only reduce your carbon footprint but also contribute to the preservation of vital ecosystems around the globe. Using sustainable FSC or PEFC certified paper can further strengthen your commitment to responsible sourcing and environmental stewardship. ✅ Recycling and Reusing: Through our partner’s advanced recycling processes, we transform wastepaper into new, usable material, closing the loop and reducing our environmental footprint. All our waste plastics are collected, graded and the processed for recycling, on site! We have implemented strict procedures to ensure responsible waste management and recycling practices. ✅ Eco-friendly Inks The importance of eco-friendly inks cannot be overstated. Did you know that the inks we use in our sheetfed printing process are not only vegetable-based, mineral oil and cobalt free, but also vegan-friendly? These wonderful new inks play a vital role to help reduce the ecological footprint of the printing process. ✅ Reel Core Recycling We don't just use the reel then dispose of the cores; we save, collect, and recycle them! By ensuring that these essential components are reused and repurposed, we're reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. ✅ Sustainable Standards Our sustainability standards are comprehensive and robust. From sourcing materials responsibly to minimising our carbon footprint, we strive to create a greener future. ✅ Community and Collaboration Sustainability is a team effort. We work closely with our partners, suppliers, and customers to foster sustainable practices across the board. ✅ Continuous Improvement Sustainability is an ongoing journey. How can the packaging industry move beyond recycling to create truly circular solutions that transform waste into opportunity? The journey toward a circular economy in printed packaging requires more than ambition it demands strategic innovation at every stage of the value chain. From material selection to production and end of life management, achieving circularity hinges on collaboration, creativity, and commitment. I currently operate in the metal packaging industry where in October 2021 regulators proposed tin plate packaging producers achieve a 92% recycling rate by 2030. This target appears high but due to the nature of the material is achievable. Do other packaging material providers have the same targets? Here are a few strategies driving progress to spark debate, other than renewable or recycled substrates and bio-based inks and coatings. o Smart Design: Implement designs that minimise waste, enhance recyclability, or facilitate reuse think mono-material packaging or disassemble components. o Consumer Education: Empower end-users with clear, actionable recycling or reuse instructions to close the loop effectively. o Data Driven Decisions: Leverage lifecycle assessments to measure environmental impacts and identify areas for improvement. The good news? Circularity isn’t just about sustainability it’s a powerful driver of innovation, cost savings, and consumer loyalty. The question is, are we ready to fully embrace this challenge? What steps are you taking or seeing in the industry to accelerate the transition to a circular economy for printed packaging? #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Innovation #Packaging #Recycle International Tin Association Ltd PACKAGING RECOVERY ORGANISATION EUROPE WPO World Packaging Organisation Sustainable Packaging News

The Power of Lightweight Packaging: A Win for Business and the Planet At Plast Uno Limited, we're always looking for ways to innovate and lead in sustainability. One of our key strategies? Reducing the thickness of our packaging materials. Here's why this approach is making waves: Environmental Impact: Less Resource Usage: Thinner packaging means using fewer raw materials, which reduces the environmental footprint from extraction to production. Lower Emissions: Lighter packages mean more efficient transportation, cutting down on fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Financial Benefits: Cost Savings: By using less material, we lower production costs. Reduced weight also means lower shipping and handling expenses. Supply Chain Efficiency: Improved logistics efficiency helps us transport more products in a single trip, saving time and money. Advancing the Circular Economy: Enhanced Recyclability: Our thinner, innovative materials are easier to recycle, supporting a circular economy where materials are reused continuously. Sustainable Design: We incorporate bio-based and compostable materials, ensuring our packaging is not only lighter but also eco-friendly. Join us on this journey towards a more sustainable future. Together, we can reduce pollution, cut costs, and enhance the efficiency of our supply chains. Let's make a difference, one package at a time! #Sustainability #Innovation #Packaging #CircularEconomy #EcoFriendly #GreenBusiness #PlastUnoLimited

Thought-provoking read, Darren Trainer. Such a huge challenge, and something we are going to have to grapple with not only as PSPs are subjected to increasingly stringent regulations, but as part of our collective responsibility to safeguard the future. The print and packaging sectors have made enormous strides over the past couple of decades, and while there is certainly more to be done the R&D, new materials and processes, and many other initiatives I see around the industry demonstrate that the will - and the talent to solve these issues - is alive and well in our sector. It's an exciting time!
Helping revolutionise print, packaging & branding companies where I've learnt true leadership is not about managing change but inspiring it. I steer transformation through innovation, technology & process optimisation.
