🌞WEEKLY TRANSIT THROUGH THE LENS OF HUMAN DESIGN🌞 This week, we enter a solar transit that carries us into the realm of the mind. The energy of this transit is about processing the past through reflection and allowing yourself the time for things to become clear (Gate 64). Within this transit, there is a pressure to formulate and prove answers and formulas based on stable patterns (Gate 63). When these patterns do not work, anxiety may arise (Gate 4 in the Ajna). Logic holds immense power because its role is to guide humanity into the future. It is crucial that we collectively trust logic, which explains why science is always valued more than something that cannot be proven, like intuition. This change may manifest as self-doubt in your abilities or in the abilities of those you love, as well as doubt in everything around you. When you find the beauty within this energy, you can come to terms with self-doubt. This is the true path to freeing yourself from the mental chatter that creates countless scenarios and causes anxiety and chaos. This transit can be an opportunity to connect with your doubts and distinguish between internal doubts that are illusions and those that are justified. New publication: 'Markedness Neutralisation and the Unity of Opposites in Heraclitus', in a Dossier: Style Matters in Presocratic Philosophy, edited by Celso Vieira and Gabriele Cornelli. Archai: The Origins of Western Thought 34. https://lnkd.in/ecjVJn5t The Dossier is here: https://lnkd.in/e-PVcH8D This is an interpretation of Heraclitus' opposites I came up with about 10 years ago during my doctoral studies, which I expanded upon for this *much anticipated* article. Abstract: In this article, I shed new light on a misunderstood aspect of Heraclitus’ style. The opposites employed by Heraclitus are often of equal status except that one member of each pair may also appear as a designation for the encompassing whole. I begin by discussing two interpretations of this phenomenon, which were put forward by Roman Dilcher and Alexander Mourelatos. The phenomenon is, I suggest, better understood as being an example of what is known as markedness neutralisation. I argue that this phenomenon should be interpreted as further undermining what Mourelatos identified as a naïve paratactic metaphysics of mere things (NMT), to which Heraclitus was reacting by beginning to develop a hypotactic metaphysics of hierarchies and dependencies as part of a view of the world as being logos-textured. Further, I consider a series of three problems that were put forward by Dilcher, which he thinks must be addressed by anyone who claims that Heraclitus held a unity of opposites thesis. I also consider some related issues, and provide some responses.
