About a year ago I interviewed a guy for a PC building position. He had emailed us his resume and mentioned that he's always wanted to be a PC builder. So I asked him if he's had any experience in the past building systems, to which he replied tons. He said he'd build multiple high end computers and even a fully custom water loop 1. On paper he sounded like the perfect candidate so I called him in for an interview. They interview process was quite simple. Build me a PC and do the best you can with your cable management. I laid out all the parts for him and he got started. He actually started off quite strong but towards the end I could tell he was struggling. Just a little. I asked him just in case if he needed any help but he said he's good so I ended up leaving the room and letting him. When he was finished he called me back and he said he's all done and the PC was ready to finally turn on. We go to turn it on and I immediately smell something burning and I could see smoke coming from the 24 pin connector. I immediately shut off the PC and I find out that he decided to mix and match cables from a different power supply. Luckily for us he only burned out the power supply but it is safe to say unfortunately he didn't get the job.
