But here’s the good news: the event is set to return in October 2025—and it’s going to be bigger, better, and more creative than ever! According to Brian Baglow, the founder and director of Scottish Games Week, this decision was made to avoid delivering anything below standard or risking the event’s future. They’re now focused on coming back stronger with a more diverse lineup of events that will support the entire video game ecosystem. 📺 It was a pleasure speaking with CGTN about the games industry trends ahead of BAFTA Games Awards 2024. Ukie's latest Video Game Industry Valuation came out on the same day, showing £7.82bn was spent in 2023 (up 4.4% on 2022) – this data figure is supported by Omdia's games research. 🎮 According to our data, the global spend on games content & services was $165.9bn in 2023, rising to $189.2bn in 2027. 📈 Key trends to watch in 2024: continued experimentation with AI game development tools, opening up of mobile ecosystems together with the emergence of new app stores, and, with no blockbuster releases currently slated for 2024 (compared to jam-packed 2023), expect more smaller-scale breakout hits akin to Palworld and Helldivers 2. 🏆 As expected, Baldur's Gate 3 was the biggest winner at Baftas. From the initial build through to the show itself, and the takedown afterward, our team has been on the ground for five intense weeks working with and supporting our clients. Over the years many of our clients have asked us how we achieve what we do and make things look so easy. As with any event, things can change at the last minute. Flexibility is the key to making sure that these changes don’t disrupt the event. Our team is always ready to adapt. We overcome unexpected challenges with a solution-focused mindset—and of course, along with a good sense of humour. It is this attitude and our flexibility that helps us to ensure that everything stays on track, no matter what surprises might come our way.
