The Guide to Reinvention: The world around us is constantly changing, and knowing when to change is crucial for survival. Artists tap into their creative juices to produce something different whenever they paint on a blank canvas. Like artists, we should approach each day as a blank canvas.

That edge, where artists are always transforming chaos into order, can be a very rough and dangerous place. Living there, an artist constantly risks falling fully into the chaos, instead of transforming it. But artists have always lived there, on the border of human understanding. Art bears the same relationship to society that the dream bears to mental life. You are very creative when you are dreaming. That is why, when you remember a dream, you think, “Where in the world did that come from?” It is very strange and incomprehensible that something can happen in your head, and you have no idea how it got there or what it means. It is a miracle: nature’s voice manifesting itself in your psyche. And it happens every night. Like art, the dream mediates between order and chaos. So, it is half chaos. That is why it is not comprehensible. It is a vision, not a fully fledged articulated production. Those who actualize those half-born visions into artistic productions are those who begin to transform what we do not understand into what we can at least start to see. That is the role of the artist, occupying the vanguard. That is their biological niche. They are the initial civilizing agents : Jordan B. Peterson,

Artists have the power to influence how people see their art. For example, imagine yourself in a bare room with vinyl floors and office lights watching actors in street clothes act out a play. Now imagine yourself in a theater with full set, full sound, full lighting, full costumes, same actors, same play. Totally different effect. The first is like looking at art knowing nothing about it; the second is having the info to experience it more deeply. The art does not change; only its surroundings.

What happens to the art when the artist is no longer who we thought they were? As the list of once-beloved artists who’ve been exposed for illegal or immoral behavior grows, many of us are left asking ourselves an important, uncomfortable question: What happens to the art when the artist is no longer who we thought they were? From Bill Cosby and R. Kelly to Kevin Spacey, Trey Songz, and most recently, Diddy, we are constantly confronted with revelations about the actions of some of the biggest names in entertainment. This reckoning is forcing audiences to confront what to do with the legacies of these artists. It’s a complicated issue that brings up feelings of grief, loss, and inner conflict. Please check out my blog post which explores this issue in more detail: https://lnkd.in/ggY85u3S

Centered on themes of loss and renewal, Scars is one of artist, Crow's more personal and introspective bodies of works. Fueled by life's cyclicity, Scars is a brutally honest undertaking, whereby loss makes way for hope, with the tacit understanding that while human nature's bias is for renewal and optimism, the artist does not discount nor dismiss grief. There is no sacrificing pain at the altar of a rosy-eyed future in Scars. Our humanity is dealt with, fairly and squarely, with profound intellectual and emotional honesty. Through Scars, we get the artist at his most truthful. No shortcuts. Collectors of the series get a 96 page book the artist created specifically for the project as well as a 33"x 24" fine are print on Dibond https://lnkd.in/exq5xA-d

Artists have a unique gift for touching others on an emotional level, and that often results in a special kind of interaction with the viewer, especially in a live setting. It can be a vulnerable thing to be seen experiencing the depth of emotion that comes from connecting to a piece of art, but it reminds us even more of the power of art. Art can stir passion, soften hearts, and give us the courage to pursue our purpose.
