The Netherlands has introduced new responsible gaming regulations. Who will be safe and who will be strained? Dutch consumers will now face tighter restrictions on deposits. Key measures include: Deposit limits: - Players 25+: €350 monthly, €700 max. - Players under 25: €150 monthly, €350 max. Reminders: - Pop-ups every 30 minutes. - Automatic logout when spending limits are reached. At first glance, these rules seem safe and sound for players. However, they push up operating costs for businesses. Add the tax increase to 34.2% of GGR, and it could lead to a rise in black market activity. This won't be good for anyone who wants to play fair. #turbostars #turboplatform #turbogames #turbosportsbook #igamingsolutions #instantgames

Have you ever signed a European Citizen's Initiative? Shape the #EU by calling for new laws and bring your topics to the #EuropeanParliament. I just signed this initiative: https://lnkd.in/eB7zVc3s Please support! Objectives This initiative calls to require publishers that sell or license videogames to consumers in the European Union (or related features and assets sold for videogames they operate) to leave said videogames in a functional (playable) state. Specifically, the initiative seeks to prevent the remote disabling of videogames by the publishers, before providing reasonable means to continue functioning of said videogames without the involvement from the side of the publisher. The initiative does not seek to acquire ownership of said videogames, associated intellectual rights or monetization rights, neither does it expect the publisher to provide resources for the said videogame once they discontinue it while leaving it in a reasonably functional (playable) state. #EuropeanUnion #StopKillingVideogames

🌞 Bom dia, friends & colleagues – Today we start to announce the sessions of the upcoming Summit. All in all, we're looking at 13 hours of content with a bit of over 50 speakers. We had to control ourselves so that we don't expand the agenda to the degree where it would cut into the time that we all need for the informal discussions – don't worry, each day there's still 90 minutes set aside for breakfast, 90 minutes booked for lunch, and 3 hours reserved for dinner. Please meet the first panel from the Legal Radar segment: 🎙 Staying Compliant in Mexico & South America XC 2024 🎙 Lead and moderated by 🇧🇷 Vanessa Pareja Lerner (Dias Carneiro Advogados), the panel is for studios that look at scaling up their business in Mexico and South America: what are the top priorities in compliance in the region, based on the recent industry practice? Joining Vanessa are: 🇲🇽 Efraín Olmedo Velázquez (Santamarina y Steta, S. C.); 🇨🇴 Jorge Andres Bedoya Carmona (IE Law Group / B&V); and 🇨🇱 José Manuel Muñiz Herrera (ALMMA Asesorías Legales Muñiz & Asociados). Collectively, Mexico & South America is already a huge games market (Steam users in the region exceed those from Germany, Spain, France and Italy, while Brazil is often the no.1 market by installs for many of the mobile studios). Moreover, the population dynamics of the region – on stark contrast with that of Asia and Europe – makes it into even more important market in the near future. The challenge of operating in the region lies in staying compliant by prioritizing the specific issues that are important for each jurisdiction, based on the practical experience (there's multiple rules, but not every rule is enforced). While the region is not as harmonized as the EU, its shared history provides a lot of common ground between the different countries. This panel will provide a structured, practical, comparative overview of the regional legislation that’s relevant to the games industry, highlighting all the major issues that studios and their law firms should pay attention to. The panel will for 45 minutes in the afternoon of September 5. Até breve! #gamesindustry #videogames #southamerica #latam #videojogos

Back in Westminster today for the launch of Westminster Games Week! We have had a fantastic reception from new and established MPs and Peers keen to talk about the UK's world-leading video game and interactive entertainment industry. Over the next three days Ukie has organised a series of round-tables, Parliamentary events, networking receptions and private conversations aimed at securing the long-term interests of our industry. The "mood music" around our industry is encouraging - the new Government have consistently referred to us as a key industry in their growth agenda and we have had really good conversations with officials and Parliamentarians. Now we need to translate positive sentiment into concrete support. We all looked with envy at the Independent Films Tax Relief announced recently (although based as it was on a market failure argument I'm not sure it's the exact path we want to follow!). We need to ensure that we're building a supportive financial environment for people to scale and grow their games business. Video games and interactive entertainment are a massive success story, but sustaining and growing that success on a sustainable basis needs Government to work hand-in-hand with industry to ensure that the right support mechanisms are in place. It promises to be an exciting week!

California tribes are intensifying their stance against sweepstakes operators encroaching on their gaming exclusivity. In the latest New Normal webinar on November 21, Victor Rocha, conference chair of the Indian Gaming Association (IGA), emphasized the urgency of enforcement actions over dialogue. Joined by Jason Giles, IGA executive director, and guest Jonodev Chaudhuri, former chair of the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), the discussion centered on regulation and enforcement strategies to address the growing sweepstakes issue. California Tribes and the Fight Against Sweepstakes Victor Rocha minced no words when discussing the relationship between California tribes and sweepstakes operators. “This is not a dialogue, this is not a discussion—we don’t negotiate with terrorists,” Rocha declared, highlighting the growing outrage among California tribes over the encroachment on their gaming rights. Rocha and Giles pointed out that sweepstakes sites represent a direct challenge to tribal exclusivity, an issue tribes are no longer willing to tolerate. 💻Read the Full Article at simplevision.net Image License: Unsplash ; Free to use;

How we spoke with 20+ publishers in less than 4 months: (70% increase - that’s where it’s at) We have been looking for a publisher for 4 months. For our market-tested game Hunter Age of Monsters. (Created under UGI Lab Division) Gaming is all about who you know. It’s cliche. But your network is your net worth. When it came to publishing our own games. Meeting face-to-face was crucial. We now have ongoing conversations with large publishers. And it took sometimes 3-7 meetings. This year we went to Gamescom, PGC & Nordic Game conferences. This allowed us to: - Gain new contacts in the sector - Get more insight on the market - Create partnerships & collabs Now it doesn’t take much. But you have to: - Be proactive - Follow up relentlessly - Look for long-term partnerships (our favorite) With large deals, it never takes 1 meeting. This is why we keep showing up. Even if it takes 1100 KM from Poland to Gamescom :)
