I understand that you want to justify the payment because a lot of people don't see social media as a real job; some brands see it as bonus work, hence the low salary payment. I saw a social media manager job posting days ago, and one of the requirements really got me worried. I understand that a social media manager should have skills like graphic designing, video editing, etc., but they should have these skills for emergencies only. P.S. I've built many in-house marketing teams. And, I've fired agencies to build an organization's first ever in-house marketing team. I thought this would save me time and money, and ultimately give me more control over marketing. And many brands also think the same thing - BOY WAS I WRONG. The hiring process was daunting and time consuming. I spent more time looking over resumes than working on the business. It cost us recruitment fees, higher salaries for highly specialized individuals, and benefits. AND - the amount of team members needed to replace the large agency team was insane. Now, I'm not saying that the entire process went poorly and sure, in the end it worked out.. What I am saying is that there is a better way that doesn't drain your resources. Don’t just go ahead and start blaming your media buyers for a poor performance. Ask these questions yourself first: - Is your product page optimised? - Is the pdp content persuasive enough to make them read more? - Have you tested multiple offers? (Most IMP) - Are you providing creatives with a proper strategy to them or are they just some random creatives? Start with this first, media buyers who are just managing your ad account, there role is to have a campaign structure which is stable, and scalable. If you think they can just run some magic and you’re gonna get some amazing results - sometimes you while, sometimes you won’t. What I want from my media buyer? Ask “Why” as much as possible. The more questions, the more curiosity to find answers and the more ways you’ll develop to test it out and the better you become at media buying. Saying that, we’re looking for a media buyer to join our team. We’ll start hiring soon :)
