[🌍 Reflections on a Milestone COP16 for NatureXpairs!] Reflecting on an incredible journey for NatureXpairs at COP16 Colombia! We’ve been privileged to foster new alliances, co-organizing events and discussions alongside our incredible partners— Here are some key takeaways: 🌱 French Expertise for #30x30: We kicked off the week by co-hosting with the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People Secretariat at the Global Environment Facility Pavilion a side-event to showcase the mobilization of French expertise for 30x30, with the participation of Ministère de l'Europe et des Affaires étrangères Ministères Territoires Écologie Logement and the French Working Group Members, as well as representatives from Costa Rica and IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA). 🤝 Regional Matchmaking Events: In five regional sessions, we connected 7 countries with tailored support from French experts, creating new collaboration opportunities. Successful partnerships with Liberia and Costa Rica are already underway, with a first match for France through Nature Conserv Action (NCA) to celebrate, and promising discussions with Colombia and Somalia hint at more cooperation on the horizon. 🌊 MPAs and Caribbean Conservation: Our side event on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) celebrated Caribbean biodiversity - co-hosted with SPAW-RAC and featuring prominent voices such as Agnès Pannier-Runacher, French Minister of Ecology, Ms. Adianez Taboada Zamora, Vice-minister of Citma, Cuba, Sakhile Silitshena from the CBD Secretariat UN Biodiversity, this session highlighted the importance of MPAs and inclusive governance in the Caribbean. This dialogue marked a significant advancement in supporting the SPAW manager network across the Caribbean. 👥 Ranger Advocacy: Supporting the International Ranger Federation’s Call for Cali, we joined forces with International Ranger Federation Gardes Nature de France Post2020 Biodiversity Framework - EU support , High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, and Office français de la biodiversité to rally political support for rangers at COP16. Together, we’re amplifying recognition for rangers’ invaluable contributions to conservation worldwide. 🌐 Expanding Partnerships and Projects: COP16 also allowed us to meet with longstanding and new partners, advancing critical projects: ▪ Collaboration with the CBD Secretariat for workshops on 30x30 roadmaps. ▪ First reflexions on a capacity building program for Madagascar National Parks, following the work we have initiated through Varuna Biodiversité_AMP. ▪ With Expertise France, fine-tuning the technical assistance we will provide for Albania’s protected areas and forests. ▪ Partnerships with our Chinese partners on Ecological Continuity AFD - Agence Française de Développement project Gratitude to all our partners for making these achievements possible! 🌍✨ A dedicated article on NatureXpairs website 👇 https://urlz.fr/sVtH Emmanuelle Sarat Aurélie Chane-Yook
