We are to fast to blame others for issues that we have the capability to fix. For example I've heard many different organizations blame school counselors for not pushing kids who would thrive in the trades, to construction. "All they do is push college" they say. But in reality whose fault is that? School Counselors push what they know. When they don't push kids into construction, it's not because they don't like the industry and have it out for us. For the most part this comes down to a lack of knowledge of the construction trades. How can you sell what you don't know? So we can continue to point fingers and hope things will change. But hope only gets you so far. As representatives of construction we need to educate the schools and the counselors ourselves. We can take control of our own future and change the narrative to better service our industry and our kids.

It's a 'newer' community - what could possibly go wrong??? We hear this a lot in the Community Association Industry. New homeowners are excited to move into a 'brand new' home. Then, issues start to pop-up with the construction. From leaking windows and doors, to flooded streets, to paver installations gone wrong - Boards of Directors need to find the help they need - legal help... Construction Defects can wreak havoc on Community Associations. But, most Board Members and Community Managers don't deal with these defects regularly in new communities - and that is where the problem lies. Looking at this from a "you don't know what you don't know" perspective, the Inframark team has created a YouTube Channel where these types of questions and concerns may be answered. Emerald Built Environments is engaged by the district as the commissioning agent for the master plan, and one of the project includes renovations to Westerville South high school. Fun fact: When this renovation was completed in 2023, each wing of the high school reflected a different natural element: water, fire, and air. #Sustainability #Commissioning
