⛵ Sailing into a Greener Future of Shipping 🌍 We are proud to be part of the groundbreaking project around the low-emission sailing cargo ship "Juren Ae" – an important step towards sustainable shipping solutions. 💚 Together with partners like the Korean Register (KR), SDC Ship Design & Consult GmbH and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, we actively contributed to the development of this innovative vessel, which will not only sail across the Pacific region but also send a strong signal for climate protection. The Juren Ae, utilizing both wind propulsion and a hybrid system, can be powered by excess wind energy – a solution that allows for up to 80% CO2 reduction compared to the rest of the MISC (Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation) fleet. For us as Peter Gast Shipping GmbH there is not one single fuel for the future, but rather a variety of solutions. Regional requirements and technological advancements will shape the modern shipping landscape, and we are ready to play our part on this journey. ⚓ This project demonstrates that we not only embrace change but actively shape it. Ecological responsibility and innovative technologies are central elements for us in making maritime transport more sustainable. 💡 🚢 💚 We look forward to continuing our collaboration with leading international partners like Korean Register, (KR) Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, Hochschule Emden/Leer, SDC Ship Design & Consult GmbH, #AsiaShipbuilding, #Kostec and #MISC, to keep the shipping industry of the future on course. ⛵ #SustainableShipping #PeterGastShipping #FutureOfShipping #GreenShipping #Innovation #MaritimeIndustry #HybridShips #LowCarbonTransport #Decarbonization

Dutch shipping company Longship has received Longera, the first of four ultra-low-emission, diesel-electric general cargo ships from Türkiye’s Atlas Shipyard, on June 25, 2024. This delivery culminates three years of dedicated research and development in pursuit of fleet sustainability. Longera, the first of four 8,600 dwt newbuilds ordered in January last year, boasts a cutting-edge diesel-electric propulsion system that cuts consumption by about 45% compared to similar ships and meets EU Stage V standards for non-road mobile machinery. The vessel is also methanol-ready as a hybrid alternative. Longera’s maiden voyage, transporting windmill blades, underscores Longship’s dedication to a sustainable future. #longship #atlasshipyards #longera #dieselelectricpropulsion ##dieselelectricgenerators #lowemissionships #cargoship

We started our journey to push the maritime industry to a more sustainable place in 2005 and have been working hard ever since to achieve that goal. But this ambitious vision wouldn't be within reach without the support and collaboration of industry leaders. Damen has stood by our side, inspiring us with their commitment to innovation. Our partnership isn't just about shared values—it's about impact. Their dedication to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in maritime technology mirrors our own aspirations. Together, we're proving that sustainable change is not only desirable but achievable. Damen's ventures, such as the Multi Cat 1908 Electric and the SOV E, show their commitment. These vessels represent a significant leap forward in reducing the environmental footprint of maritime operations. They demonstrate that the future of shipping is not just a concept but a reality that's within our grasp. Our collaboration with Damen plays a crucial role in achieving our broader goal of advocating for infrastructure and legislation that support the development and adoption of green vessels. By showcasing the viability and effectiveness of sustainable technologies, we're not only revolutionising the maritime industry but also paving the way for a regulatory environment that fosters the growth of environmentally friendly practices. #TUDelftHydroMotionTeam #HydroMotion #HydroMotionTeam #TUDelft #flying #boat #hydrogen #hydrogenboat #sustainable #sustainability #innovation #students #challengethefuture #dreamteam #sustainablefuel #DamenShipyards

Great presentations and discussions yesterday at the Maritime Forum 2024 organised by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK at the Royal Thames Yacht Club Limited. I was especially interested to hear about the innovations by Artemis Racing, Wallenius Lines, and Stena AB on the path to net zero and the "challenge of the first mover". One question still bugs me, though, so if anyone can answer it here feel free: if they do start installing charging points on wind turbines and that will make the use of e-boats viable for service, what happens if the boat gets there and the charging point doesn't work? You can't just hop out and push the boat to the next wind turbine, can you? Talk about range anxiety! The Reality of Shipping panel (pictured) discussed the resiliency of shipping in the face of current world events. Who knew that it is difficult to sell a ship these days and make sure it doesn't end up in the shadow fleet? Or that back in the neolithic era the existing shipping insurers didn't want to insure a wooden boat with a steam engine added? (Well that one perhaps isn't that surprising.) Thank you Iain Percy, Philip Roche, Jacob Norrby, Heike Deggim, Per Tunell, Tord Nilsson, and everyone else present for an enjoyable and informative evening. #sustainability #shipping #innovation
