My secret to building a strong partnership with Salesforce: Stakeholder mapping. Here’s how it works: Everyone has a relationship with their partner team—stay close to them. My first contact was Julia (who, unfortunately, just left), and she was instrumental in helping us win deals. But there are others who need to know you, trust you, and feel valued. For us, winning over RVPs made all the difference. They had enough influence to get things moving but were still close to the day-to-day business, helping convince AEs to work more closely with us. We secured the support of 2-3 RVPs, many of whom I still value and stay in touch with today. These relationships were crucial to our Salesforce success and helped us land some of our biggest deals. The key roles may differ for you, but the bottom line is this: Identify your champions, then relentlessly pursue building those relationships!

I closed a 50K deal, without any future sales experience at an in-person conference. I did it by being helpful. Below is the story👇 I was hosting an in-person event for GTM SaaS leaders in NYC, when I noticed a gentlemen wondering the lobby lost. I asked him if I could help, and he told me he was looking for the bathroom 🤣 Instead of saying, "Make two lefts, a right, and the door will be on your left" I walked him directly to the bathroom. While we walked, we talked. I found out he was the CEO of 100m+ ARR SaaS company. He told me he loved networking, but got anxiety going to the big events like SaaStr (Just too many people and vendors). He preferred smaller events. Niche audience. Authentic conversations that could lead to a real relationship. He congratulated me on being able to get such a great group of people together and quietly added that they were all in his company's ICP. The information he provided gave me enough confidence to say, "Do you think your team would benefit from being a sponsor next year?" His answer = Yes By this time, we got to the bathroom and both went in. While washing our hands, he asked me for my email so he could put me in contact with his field marketer. We got the meeting on calendar by the EOD. 1 week later, we met. 2 weeks after that, the docusign was completed. My takeaways? 1) Being helpful can lead you to opportunities you never knew existed 2) Never underestimate the power of the CEO. If they are your champion, you'll have much higher rate of winning the deal. #b2bsales #salesstories
