Imagine running a business the way politicians are running countries today. How long would it take before hitting bankruptcy? I’m not even taking into account the excessive spending or misplaced priorities — we’re talking about leadership itself, or rather, the lack of it. Being leaders of today, in a complex world, we understand that we can’t sit in our executive towers as earlier, making decisions purely based on our own experience or superiority. The new paradigm of leadership requires involvement — collaborating and co-creating by connecting with people in all facets of the business, getting their input to see the full picture, understanding the real challenges, and tap into the collective intelligence to find better solutions. Politicians, on the other hand, too often do the complete opposite. They stay in echo chambers, disconnected from the people they serve and making decisions based on their own narrow (or non-existent) experience. Many don’t even have any work related real-world experience outside of politics! This top-down, bureaucratic and disconnected way of leading is a recipe for disaster. Just look at what’s happening in Norway — a small country that could be so well run! But, no, political decisions over the past few years have stifled innovation, private initiatives and businesses, with long-term consequences that everyone seems to recognize — except the politicians themselves. It’s never been a more acute time for a new approach to leadership – also in the world of politics.

A founder's living conditions in Norway 🙈 I and tens of thousands of other entrepreneurs are so passionate about something that we are willing to go without pay for months and years, mortgaging house and home to try to do the impossible; build a viable business that makes a difference in society. When you succeed after years of hard work—60-hour weeks, uncertainty, and countless sacrifices—politicians may take aim at you, seeking to claim as much of your hard-earned wealth as possible. I find it particularly troubling that Kirsti Bergstø from the Socialist Party has created a "Wall of Shame" in her office, featuring successful entrepreneurs who have generated jobs and contributed billions in taxes that benefit all of Norway. In my opinion, this wall should be renamed from the "Wall of Shame" to something more fitting, like the "Wall of Honor." These individuals deserve recognition for their contributions, not vilification. While I've always had a healthy skepticism toward politicians, this situation has only deepened my concerns. It’s alarming to witness politicians who seem intent on stifling the spirit of entrepreneurship out of envy towards those who have achieved billionaire status through years of dedication, resilience, and talent. Let’s promote a culture of support and appreciation for those who take risks and drive our economy forward!
