Last month our Executive Director Savita Pawnday was interviewed by the The Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies (HL-senteret) on gender, genocide and atrocity prevention, highlighting how vulnerable sectors of the population can be further marginalized in both the response to atrocities as well as what comes after due to struggles in accessing seats at the negotiating table. She also discussed the gendered aspects of genocide, reiterating that gender-based violence is not just a byproduct of war, but in many cases a tactic of war. Savita examines how gender-based violence has contributed to mass atrocities and genocide during the genocide in Rwanda, in the former Yugoslavia and the Yazidi genocide in Iraq. The other side of the story. Time for a ceasefire and truce.... and for dialog and non-violent interaction as equals. This is the only path to sustainable peace by exchanging fear and hatred, for trust and solidarity.... It may be a long way to go but it is possible... www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo
The allegations against Israel get more lurid by the day. Ever since 1,200 Israelis were murdered by Hamas on 7 October, Israel’s attempts to defend itself have been portrayed as genocidal. It stands accused of targeting civilian children, of trying to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians. These malicious claims have been repeated in the Western media, promoted by international NGOs and even considered in the international courts. At the same time, the well-documented and depraved crimes of Hamas have been downplayed, ignored and outright denied. How can we explain this extraordinary double standard? https://lnkd.in/eFkyu_eK

Thank you. 😊 When I was a child, my neighbours kids thought we were godless because we didn’t believe in Jesus. My teachers thought I mistook Israel meant Egypt as they didn’t know what country that was. When I said I didn’t want to sign Christmas songs about Jesus because I was Jewish, they told me I must mean I was a Jehovah’s whiteness because that they understood they did not sign or celebrate their Christian holidays. This is the root of centuries old antisemitism that is now translated into this new fad, finding every fault with Israel and going after Jews around the world. Jews were until recently (and still in some religious circles) blamed for Jesus’ death. They were seen as outcasts with transitions that are different from the locals. They were and still are in many areas seen as weirdos and devil worshipers because what people don’t understand, they find reasons to hate. That same hate may take another form as people get educated but too many will drift towards another reason to hate the Jews as they realize the original hate was not warranted or based on truth. Even unconsciously, hate is transmitted from parents to children. And if the parents’ hate is found unwarranted, another reason will stick in it’s place that has a more modern twist. Why else would Jews be attacked around the world for what is happening in Israel? Have people leaned that it was wrong to imprison Americans of Japanese decent because Japan decided to wage war? Apparently not. What is happening in is pure hatred. Let’s not succumb to the darkness of the world. Let’s unite and celebrate our differences as we acknowledge the right to fight for life and security wherever it is threatened.

A concerning pattern of lawlessness and impunity surrounding violence against Palestinians by Jewish extremists in Israel. It highlights the urgent need for accountability and justice to protect vulnerable communities and uphold the rule of law. Addressing these systemic issues is crucial for promoting peace and stability in the region. 🕊️🇮🇱 #Israel #Palestine #Justice #Accountability #Peace https://lnkd.in/eQGsdjZW

As part of the 2024: Year of Prevention, we are hosting a series of online symposia on universal lessons in genocide prevention. Please join us on 3/22 for “When Genocide is Global: The Armenian Case” from 12-1:30PM ET. The goal of this symposium is to raise awareness of the enduring threats to Armenian identity, as well as their global nature and deep history, which places Armenopobia alongside Antisemitism, Anti-Black racism, Islamophobia, and Anti-Trans bigotry as a global hate ideology with inherently genocidal dimensions. Our panelists will discuss how genocides that go unpunished, unrecognized, and unaccounted for can end up normalizing ways of thinking and informing structural realities that lead to similar patterns in the future. #Armenia #ArmenianIdentity Register for this event at https://lnkd.in/gAPxR-KX.

genocide Maybe Mark Rutte should talk more about condemming Israel for its genocidal policies, and stop all support to this terrorist country, instead of pulling the anti-semitism card again. When anti-Israel is said to be equivalent to anti-semitism there will naturally be an increase whenever news comes out about events showing Israels absolute disregard for human rights. It is quite appaling to notice how little is being done against this notion of equating anti-Israel action with anti-semitism. In fact it is a smoke screen set up by zionist and pro-Israel groups to prevent completely justified critiscism of Israels policies. It's also, or so I can imagine, a slap in the face of jews who oppose Israeli occupation of Palestine and its dehumanizing policies against Palestinians.
