🐭 #MICEtourism has quickly risen to being one of the key segments in the tourism industry for Bulgaria. Here’s what ECTAA’s 2024 #PreferredDestination #Bulgaria can offer to the professionals in the industry: 🕛 Since March 2024, Bulgaria is part of the Schengen Area in the EU: internal air and sea border checks have been lifted and legal entry into the country has never been easier. ✈️ There are 4 well-connected international airports - Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas. Most European capitals are no further than 3 hours away. 🏨 Most 4- and 5-⭐ hotels in the country are brand new or have been renovated in the past 5 years. And they are not only modern, but also equipped with state-of-the-art MICE facilities. 🌲 There are different regional options to hold a conference. It can be deep in the mountains - Velingrad, at the sea coast – Varna or Burgas, or in a veritable cultural monument – Veliko Tarnovo. Regardless of the area, there are always wellness options for all the delegates to enjoy. 🏛️ Iconic festival and congress centres across the country provide event spaces for any crowd. Examples include the spacious Inter Expo and Congress Centre in Sofia or the Multifunctional Sports Hall Kolodrum Plovdiv. We will be exploring some of those and many more at our semi-annual ECTAA meeting this October in Sofia and post event tour in Plovdiv.

🌟 Exciting News from the ICCA Country and City Rankings for 2023! 🌍| We are thrilled to share the remarkable advancements in the ICCA rankings for 2023, highlighting Porto's ascent as a hub for international conferences and events. This year, #Porto has risen to the 23rd spot in the global meetings industry, hosting 68 major events and proving its status as a top meeting destination. It also advanced from 22nd to 18th in Europe, becoming the second favorite among non-capital cities, but the number one destination among all cities that belong to the EU CVB Network. This recognition is a testament to Porto's vibrant, dynamic environment and its growing appeal in the global meetings industry. #Braga, #Guimarães, and #Matosinhos have seen significant jumps in their standings, with Braga soaring 117 places. These cities are emerging as competitive players, demonstrating robust capabilities in hosting international events. The strategic efforts in enhancing our infrastructures, services, and organizational capacity have prepared us to meet the diverse needs of every event profile. Our region is not only working to strengthen our presence in significant international networks but also digitalizing our services and intensifying networking actions. These achievements reflect our unyielding dedication to capturing and supporting MICE opportunities, according to Luis Pedro Martins, the president of Visit Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau. "There is no doubt that this sector is a significant lever for tourism due to its multiplier effect on other tourism segments and its role in energizing other economic sectors," emphasis. The FBE Forum Branży Eventowej in Warsaw once again kicks off the 2025 event season in Poland with unmatched excitement and innovation! This event in Poland has truly come a long way over the years, and seeing how much it’s grown was inspiring. From the moment I walked in to EXPO XXI Warszawa, the energy was palpable. The lineup of speakers, workshops, and panels on both stages was packed with insights that really got me thinking about where the event industry is headed. There was so much to take in - whether it was discussions on new tech, creative event design, or AI, every session offered fresh ideas that I’m excited to put into practice. But what really stood out to me was the networking. There’s nothing quite like connecting face-to-face with event planners, tech providers, convention bureaux, MICE destinations, hoteliers and creative minds from across the industry. I had some great conversations, met inspiring people and industry friends, and came away with new contacts - and plenty of ideas - for the year ahead.
