Useful wheel to look at how we can deal with stress or negative reactions at work. Looking at number 2, it occurred to me that highly sensitive people might generally have less of an issue with this one, since our genetic trait tends to make us very low in impulsivity - however, that can feel different if we are generally overwhelmed. In general, HSPs tend to listen well and have an innate ability to understand others, which promotes good relationships and creativity at work. However, stress can sometimes negate our advantages and the skills that go with them. What can make the difference is having space and time to re-centre and get back to our more calm and measured self. Remembering to take breaks in a timely way, to monitor our boundaries, lead a healthy life-style and so on, can clear the space in our mind to gain clarity, perspective and reconnect with our values and skills, making us stronger at work and more likely to act rather than react.

Many of us will be gathering with friends and family today to eat traditional food and give thanks. While it is a good practice to reflect on the abundance in our lives and to express our gratitude, we should also realize that the original Thanksgiving celebration we observe has been mythologized and is historically inaccurate. Native people have little reason to be grateful for the coming of the Pilgrims and other European immigrants to North America. For Native people, the traditional Thanksgiving celebration is a reminder of genocide, stolen lands, unfair treaties, broken promises, and attempted erasure of their languages and cultures. For many Native people, today is a #NationalDayOfMourning. Others observe today as a day of #Truthsgiving or #UnThanksGiving. 🌱PERSPECTIVE ON BEING HUMAN THROUGH STORY ~ In Native ways of knowing, human people are often referred to as “the younger brothers of Creation.” We say that humans have the least experience with how to live and thus the most to learn — we must look to our teachers among the other species for guidance. Their wisdom is apparent in the way they live. They teach us by example. They’ve been on earth far longer than we have been, and have had time to figure things out. They live both above and below ground, joining Skyworld to the earth. Plants know how to make food and medicine from light and water, and then they give it away. 🌱This teaches us humility and open mindedness. It allows us to reframe our narrative of ourselves as the dominating species (aka the centre of the Universe — an Ego based understanding of ourselves and life) to be able to see ourselves as the ones who have little experience and much to learn from wise elders of the natural world we belong to and come from. A WAY OF BEING, INSPIRED BY SKYWOMAN 🌌 ~ She came here with nothing but a handful of seeds and the slimmest of instructions to “use your gifts and dreams for good,” the same instructions we all carry. She accepted the gifts from other beings with open hands and used them honourably. She shared the gifts she brought from Skyworld as she set herself about the business of flourishing, of making a home. SKYWOMAN embodies a lesson in generosity, reciprocity, abundance, togetherness. 🌱🌻🌾 BECOMING indigenous to a place means living as if our children’s future mattered, to take care of the land as if our lives, both material and spiritual, depended on it. We can’t meaningfully proceed with healing, with restoration, without “re-story-ation”. In other words, our relationship with land cannot heal until we hear its stories.
