Friends,            Having retired from my career as a lawyer, I am launching my new “give back” career, using my Shotokan Karate experience. “Kids Kicking Cancer” (KKC) provides martial arts therapy for kids suffering from cancer. As volunteers, we meet with the kids in their hospital rooms, or in groups for those capable, and by teaching meditation, breathing, a martial arts mindset, and non-contact karate techniques, we empower the kids to reduce, and even overcome, their pain, fear, and anger. The data in peer-reviewed scientific journals validate this as effective.            KKC has expanded beyond cancer and has become known as “The Heroes Circle,” to include older kids and other conditions such as sickle cell, organ transplant, etc. The kids become the teachers and are the heroes. Siblings and kids who have lost a parent to disease are also included in the program.            My karate co-instructor, Cary Johnson, and I are working to start a KKC operation in Ohio, and we need friends to help fund the $75,000 in expenses, including hiring a coordinator. I hope you will join in donating to this cause.  Tax deductible donations can be made through the website heroescircle.org, or by sending a check to: Kids Kicking Cancer, 27600 Northwestern Highway, Suite 220, Southfield, MI 48034. Please include a comment on the donation form or the check: “For Cleveland,” for proper allocation.              We teach the kids, “Power – Peace – Purpose. ·      Power – Empowerment to confront their pain, fear, and anger ·      Peace - To take control of their circumstances ·      Purpose – Their purpose is to teach the world!            Here are some articles and videos regarding the program. More information can be found on heroescircle.org. https://lnkd.in/gCUmrFCZ https://lnkd.in/gJ4hbmhb https://lnkd.in/g7kB-34K https://lnkd.in/gdWd83ym Thanks so much for your donation of any size, so we can help the kids who need help.

The Residential Outdoor Education (Wales) Bill, proposing a funded entitlement for children in Wales, is continuing its journey through the Senedd, and the debate in the Senedd itself will happen In April. Prior to that, the committees responsible for scrutinising the proposals will be reporting their recommendations soon, and, whatever the outcome, the Bill has raised the profile of outdoor education/learning significantly.
