When you observe 1M job changes monthly you notice a lot of things, and I’m always intrigued by how often companies change names, are acquired, or get spun off into newcos or subsidiaries. A few examples that we’re seeing from the past month of job change data are Solventum which spun off of 3M, Worldpay from FIS and GE Vernova from General Electric. In fact, of the top 100 New Company Job starts in the last 30 days, 69 of the 100 reflect M&A, Rebrands, Corporate Spin-offs. Reach out if you’d like to get the full list.

Here's a 3 part checklist I always use before applying for a job. It helps make sure I'm not wasting time as I apply to opportunities. 1) Is this a role I'm actually qualified to do? Do I have the skills and experience necessary to do well? 2) Will I like this role? Does the job description resonate with me? 3) Am I willing to relocate to the role's location? Do I like the kind of environment I'll be living in? If the answer is no at any point along the way, I don't spend my time applying to the role. 80,000 hours is too long to feel miserable.
