I tried. I struggled. Here’s what changed 👇🏻 After months of trying to do it all myself, I realized the one thing I was missing: support. Here’s why having a community changed everything for me: - Accountability: I shared where I was and had people asking questions about progress - Encouragement: I knew I wasn’t alone - Shared Goals: Having like-minded people in my corner allowed me to work towards something greater than myself. I lost 40 lbs because I had people around me who understood my journey. That’s why I created The IT Lifestyle community. To give other IT professionals the support they need. If you’re struggling with consistency, maybe what you’re missing is a community. What’s one goal you’d hit faster with the right support?

Enough of taking ‘solutions’ to communities. It is time to ask for what they really need and act accordingly. Community members know their problems better and co-creating solutions is the best way to ensure sustained success. ♻️Share with others.

We work with others to get three things 1) Leverage to accomplish our chosen mission in bigger and better ways than we could alone. 2) Quality relationships that together make for a great community. 3) Money that allow us to buy what we need and want for ourselves and others. It’s up to you to decide what you want to get out of life and what you want to give.

I knew nothing about communities when I started my first one. Not one thing. I had no conversations with other community builders. I read no articles. No books. Mainly because I didn't know I was starting a community. And most definitively because I never set out to build a global community. In my case, ignorance was bliss. Most likely, I would not have started if I had known how steep this learning curve would be. 😅 However, I had one thing that was crucial to keep me going: I needed this community myself, and I have found value there from day 1. Today, I have several conversations each month with people who are thinking of starting a community. And sometimes, overthinking. 😫 Often, people get lost in irrelevant details. And ignore the important pieces. I've built three communities from scratch. And from what I have learned, these are the important pieces. 👇 What else should we add here? 🤔 #community #communitybuilding #communityofpractice #CoP #learningcommunities

Confession: I like community metrics. I can see what needs improvement (or to stop) and what can be celebrated. The numbers also go UP when an organization is invested in their community. I'll let you guess what happens when they aren't. 😊 Utilizing community metrics shouldn't take place of the humans but it can certainly help.

Compounding is not just a financial buzzword but a secret ingredient in the recipe of everyday life. In daily life, it’s the consistent effort in learning that turns into mastery, or the small acts of kindness that can transform a community. When you read a page of a book each day, you’re compounding knowledge. When you save a little bit each week, you’re compounding wealth. Even in relationships, small gestures of appreciation can compound into deep bonds. So, let’s embrace the incremental changes and watch the little things we do today make a big difference tomorrow!
